Count Off Challenge
Oh I really love the Harry Potter books. I've read all of them multiple times except the last one. Some as many as 5 or 6 times. I thought I'd follow up book 6 that I'm reading now with the final book 7. I do want to read it again, and I need to use a side character Xenophilius Lovegood as my X character for A-Z character challenge.
Briansgirl wrote: "Oh I really love the Harry Potter books... Which HP book does Xenophilius show up in?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It's Luna's father. It's the only X character I know of in any of my books. Usually I'm using main characters to fill A-Z character challenge, but opting for a side character on that one or I'll never get it filled in. lol This is one challenge that I'm kinda filling in as I go. Eventually I'll be reading something specific to fill a category, but so far just been filling in as I've read other stuff. But since I'm reading HP book 6 now, figured I might as well follow it up with HP book 7.

Way to go,BG! Are you moving on to HP#7 right away, or something different? I've gotten bogged down in Yiddish Policemen's Union so decided to read KM Moning's Darkfever for a quicker read. HUH! Might be quicker, but sure is not light!!
I'm moving onto the last HP book. I've only read it once, so it's time to read it again. I've read the others 3-6 times each. lol I just didn't like the last book when I read it. But I'm forgetting details so need to read it again. It's 759 pages!

Where is everyone?! Briansgirl, I know you've been reading - you finished your Read-the-Month Challenge, which I am still working on
Kenjii, I just had to find out what your 3-in-a-row surprise would be. But now I'm going to sit back and enjoy my winnings, and watch for a while
I am furiously reading but all my books are previous reading which would not count for partial counts in new challenges. But I am enjoying my books =D. BTW Congrads to the 3-n-a-row winner
B J ROSE
What I would like you to do to help with your secret reward is post a list of Wishlist books (or point me to your list online). I'd like up to 10 but 5-7 will do. Once that is done I'll move to step #2.
Once again the 3-n-a-row challenge is opened. beginning with the next new challenge =D.
BG would mention w/o fail that you can go get your book buying in, between challenges, lol. On new release TUES. no less, hehe.

I'm 644 pages into Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Almost finished. These long books take awhile to read. (I read a 12 page novella to finish off read the month so havn't posted an update for that yet here as I was waiting to finish HP. If I add what I've read of this HP book to the other HP book and novella I've read 1308 pages since the challenge started.)
Kenjii wrote: "BG would mention w/o fail that you can go get your book buying in, between challenges, lol. On new release TUES. no less, hehe. "Yes, I would! lol The last 100 pages of this Harry Potter book will count, but only if someone starts the next challenge! I'm finishing it today either way. hehe
Congrats BJ.
I really am running out of room for books. So I may buy a few e-books for my rewards but those books I bought really put me over [the limit, shelf-space wise:] I am buckling down. I am really doing it!!!

BJ
hhmmm, will it count towards anything? lolFrom the time I discovered the last challenge was won earlier today... I've finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows... (115 pages were left in the book).
Kenjii, here's the link to my WishList, but I haven't updated it in a while, so some of the books in that list should really be on my TBR list, etc. So I'm also including a mini-wishlist here:http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...
Don't Bargain with the Devil by Sabrina Jeffries
Wed Him Before YOu Bed Him by Sabrina Jeffries
Surrender to the Devil by Lorraine Heath
Loving a Lost Lord by Mary Jo Pputney

Witch Fury (Elemental Witches #4) by Anya Bast
The Wicked Duke Takes a Wife by Jillian Hunter

I'm out of the next count off challenge. I doubt I'll read just too much, or not post much. My brother drown today while saving his kids off the beach in SC.

Oh BJ Rose I am addicted to this one. Its sort of silly really but I have my ticks. LOL. It s called Dream Farm. Sort of like the apps on FB or Myspace. Execpt you fulfill orders to win against other people in the market place. U can see their storehouse and even buy produce from them. U can grow a variety of fruits and your machines produce goodes such as: beets>sugar, rye>flour, sunflowers>eggs, grass>milk, milk>cream, strawberries>jam. The more extensive the process the more money the people pay. Its a fun game. Its called farming sim/stratgey/MPOG. I also (own) play A LOT of marble popper and DASH games. I play GH with no regard to other people's high score, hehe.

Reminder: NEW books can be counted partially as the pages will be relatively low in numbers. Currently reading books have to be FINISHED to be counted. No matter if you have counted the pages halfway before. Minus the number and use the remaining pages. I emphasize this rule every time so that newcomers are aware of the counting system.

Ok Step #2 Promise not to purchase ANY of the books on your Wishlist. B/c in the next 6-8 weeks your secret reward will be a surprise of 1,2 or 3 books off your list!
BG: That is terrible to hear. I hope that perhaps you can use reading as a way to cope maybe? Gosh that is terrible.
Thanks Kenjii. My brother died saving his kids. They were on vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC and 2 of his 4 kids got caught in the undertow of the ocean. He jumped in to save them. He didn't make it.

Thank you Yz. Here is a link to a news article about his drowning. http://www.thesunnews.com/news/local/...

I'm out, not that it really matters since I can't read. I bought a book on sale at Books-A-Million one night while in KC for my brother's funeral. I bought What Would MacGyver Do? True Stories of Improvised Genius in Everyday Life. I've only read 60 pages of it and havn't finished a single book since the new challenge has started.

I lost a younger sister who didn't survive heart surgery, and it was very hard for a while. Hang in there, and let us know when you're down.
BG: Thanks for the PM reply. I am glad to see you just posting! I miss you! I can't say I know what its like to lose a loved one but I know what it feels like to be sad and not know when that feeling will go away. Not just a I'll get over this one day sadness but the soul crushing kind that leaves scars.
Thanks BJ and Kenjii. It's just really hard right now. And it hasn't helped any that his widow and my mother at times said hurtful things to me. So I'm mad at them, yet don't know how to deal with the grief right now. It's still hard for me to even realize he's gone.

You read fast BJ! I can't keep up. lol"
I had two quick and enjoyable reads - now I'm working on a couple 'deeper' reads, and I don't think they'll go as fast. Sounds like you're enjoying Harry Potter - I've still only read two of them.
