Looks like the joke's on me! I was sure that Christine would post her win last night or this morn, so I went wild and bought some books I've been wanting for quite a while - I still had credit for one book, and I used that to buy One Dance with a Duke, but then I found Rose's Garden for $2. and couldn't pass it up. Well, once I bought one over the limit, why stop there?! So I went to my Amazon Cart, called up 4 books that have been languishing there, and used their 4-for-3 pricing to get those. In other words, reset to zero!!
So I'll congratulate Christine in advance, and wait for her new challenge.

Congratulations again, Christine! And I finished the book I was reading just about the time you posted the new challenge, so everything I'm reading now counts (working on 3 books right now, and none of them have grabbed me yet - but none of them have dads in them, either!)No pages to post yet, just getting myself in this challenge.
I got busy yesterday and didn't get my new book started until after she posted it won, so it'll count. Not sure if mine would count for double pages or not. It's Shelter Mountain (Virgin River #2). One of the main characters (Jack) is a dad, or going to be one, as his wife is pregnant throughout the book.
If any of you have an overload of Harlequin books on hand, this is probably the challenge for them. It always seems to me like the majority of those books center around a guy knocking up a girl and then dealing with the aftermath.
Mine isn't a harlequin but it sure has enough pregnant women in it! lol Let's see... 3 women pregnant...and the fathers are there too, of course. Each situation is different. It probably would count for double credit then. :)

However, John, her medical partner is one of the main character, and he's the father of a 6-yr-old. To a lesser degree, June's father figures prominently in the story - and then there's her old high school beau, who's moved back to town with his twin teenage boys, but a shining example of fatherhood he is not.

Sounds a bit like Shelter Mountain. Paige was a main character with a 3 year old boy and pregnant, but her husband (soon-to-be-ex) was NOT a shining example of fatherhood. lol To put it mildly. Jack delivering his own son was enough of a main character to qualify, and Preacher became a stepfather to lil Christopher, and both Jack and Preacher were surrogate fathers to Rick, so figured the book had to qualify. lol

In this trilogy (which pre-dates the Virgin River series), she also had spousal abuse in the first book, but not with any of the main characters. How did you like Shelter Mountain! I loved Preacher!
I loved Preacher too. I enjoyed the first two books, but sadly am a bit disappointed and depressed so far with Whispering Rock, book 3. Hoping this one gets better.
