Somehow I didn't think I was that close to the goal, so I haven't even thought about a new challenge. Will be back in a little bit with one - if anybody wants to buy books, now is the time!

I won't be buying anymore books until the annual summer friends of the library sale which this year is July 9, 10, & 11. They advertize 75,000 used books with most hardbacks $1 and paperbacks and children's books at 50 cents. Friday costs $5 to get in (and I do and wait in a LONG line. lol). Admission is free the rest of the weekend and sunday is their $2 bag sale (all the books you can fit in a bag for $2. Another long line that day too.)
i can't really afford to buy anymore either...besides my TBR pile is teetering at 450...i think i'm good on books for a while...
My TBR pile is bigger than that! lol Now granted, an awful lot of what I have are serial Harlequins, and several boxes worth are from the '60s, '70s, and '80s. So I don't necessarily "want" to read everything I have. Now, not counting about 5 apple boxes of old Harlequins not inventoried... I have (according to my GRs shelves)... 4,224 books and have read 749 of them. So...hhhmmm... I've read maybe a fifth of what I own. lol My home library has 101 Louis L'Amour westerns, 102 Debbie Macomber books, 106 Nora Roberts, etc. And my Harlequin/Silhoutte shelf has 1377 books (without adding the 5 apple boxes to it. lol) I made another filtered shelf to go along with read, currently-reading and TBR. I made one for unread, for all those I have no intention of reading anytime soon. Just the ones I marked to-read on GRs is 89 books. So in that case, your TBR is bigger than mine. lol
I only [try to:] buy wishlist books. I bought 2 today and finished 1 already. I figure WL books won't sit on my TBR pile long =D.

Burl Ives was an actor, writer, and singer who was born on June 14, 1909 and died on April 14, 1995 at the age of 85. I loved Burl Ives as 'Big Daddy' in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" (and Paul Newman was yummy as Brick!), and I watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer every Christmas so I can hear Burl Ives sing all the songs.

This is a genre that I have had hardly any of before this year. Otherwise, I only bought it if it was from an author I really like but don't have that yet when at a thrift shop or garage sale. Won't buy anything else til the summer sale, where books are only 50 cents each. And with my home library now so big, I'm going to be picky this year about what I get. And, uh, usually get at least one bag from the $2 bag sale, just for the heck of it! lol A bargain too good to pass up.

Assume this would work for a biography about one of the above as well.
What about musician, BJ? (Selfish question because I'm in the middle of Faith and the main character is a drummer.)
Burl Ives was all of those things, an actor, singer and writer (autobiography at least I could find)...so don't know if he was a musician or not.
Oh, that's cool. I can claim the next book in the series for the bonus, so it's no big.
@Kate that is the great thing about PBS and bookmooch.com and other swap sites. Since PNR usually have 5 or more books and you never know if you'll like the series. I'd rather use swap credits than spend money collecting the series =D. I can understand not wanting to pass up a deal.
I love PBS now that I'm on it and have gotten probably half of what little UF/PNR I have from there. Some have no waiting lists, and for others, the waiting lists are astronomical. lol My library has some PNR/UF, but it's kinda hit and miss. For instance, someone in another group suggested I read the forensic anthropoligist mystery series, Gideon Oliver. There are like 15+ books in the series. The library has them all EXCEPT book 1. sigh lol So I got book 1 off of PBS and will read the rest from the library.
Kate, yes on a biography/autobiography of the 3 professions listed. Christine, I'm pretty sure he played the guitar (and probably piano), so that would work, but I think drummer is stretching it a little (if anyone discovers differently, let me know & I'll adjust)

I'll be in soon - I was in a frenzy to finish the other challenge so I could use my $10. bonus credit at Audible before it expired *made it by one day!* Bought a J.D. Robb - Conspiracy in Death. Now to go see what I have in my Amazon Cart that I've been wanting to buy. I've been really good lately, even though my TBR is nowhere near yours, Dee and Kate! Mine is barely approaching 200, but it would probably be more if our library had the kind of sales that yours does, Kate. It'd be worth spending a day at something like that!
lol, glad you made your $10 credit in time. My library has already started advertising a big paperback sale in July so I am not sure how well I will do on the challenges - I will also be traveling the month of July so we will just have to see if I even get to go to the sale. :)

What are the In Death books about? I've been hearing so much about them lately.
They're futuristic - set in 2048 or something like that - so you have off-planet activity as well as life on earth. Eve Dallas is a cop, Ruark is her billionaire lover/husband. There's always a very involved crime in each book. I have only read 5 of the books so far, so I know there are other readers who can explain more and better.
Btw, the In Death series has something like 30+ books in the series. It's a mega-series if there ever was one. Written by J.D. Robb, otherwise known as Nora Roberts.
Is Nora Roberts an actual person? I wonder what her secret is for putting out as many books as she does. Maybe she's a robot...
lol, Suppose to be a real person but yes, she's a very prolific writer when you consider titles both her own name and in her pen name of J.D. Robb.
