Yikes! Going a bit slower this time around!

This might sound strange since I just finished it, but I'm going to actually start over and reread Dead and Gone, the most current Sookie book. The battle at the end surprised me and there are details earlier in the book that I vaguely remember but want to be clearer. I think I was just too tired when I read this since I'd been gone 6 hours on a road trip and had had very little sleep all week since I stayed up late reading the rest of the series. (I got 1-3 hours of sleep a night for 3 nights in a row, then after only 4 hours sleep did the driving on a road trip that wore me out.) So if you see the page counts for this book twice, it's because I'm actually reading the entire book twice. I wanted to know what was happening so badly I read it even though I was too tired. Going to take a nap, then start over.

And for any Sookie fans... A Touch of Dead is a collection of the five Sookie short stories that are in various anthologies. She put them all together in one small book. Need to reread "Dracula Night" because she said she'd tried to "smooth out the edges" of the story for this printing, so want to see what she changed. As long as I have this from the library, going to reread "One Word Answer" as well, as that's the only one where the plot makes a difference to the regular novels.

We're getting our first bit of warm weather in Southwestern Ontario and it's hard to read while mountain biking, so it's a really slow start for me as well. Oh well. The warm weather is worth the loss of reading time and unfortunately won't last long :(

Well done. I know that the Spring quarterly challenge has a bonus for a book with Spring in the title. In a cozy mystery group, their April themed book is anything spring or DIY related. So I'm going to read The Spring Cleaning Murders by Dorothy Cannell. It's like 13th in a series and it's the only one I have so hope it stands alone enough for me to understand it. Just have to come down off the Sookie series before I can start reading something else. lol

OMG! Thanks for the catch Briansgirl - apparently a lack of sleep has made me lose an entire month! Duh! Sorry about that, I've now edited the post to show I did read them in the last two days.

I know it's a lot but I think I've only gotten about 4 hours sleep in the last couple of days as I've got a huge patch of very itchy excema on my leg that's been keeping me up. Mind you - there's a good chance of a chocolate-induced coma coming up for me :)

I got maybe 1-3 hours of sleep a night while doing my marathon Sookie reading. In withrdawls now. lol Rereading last book very slowly now to pick up what I missed. I used the reward books to order whatever gaps in the series I couldn't find on paperbackswap since this first read was 2/3rds library books. Definetly want to own the entire series and reread them all again.

Do you mean Dead and Gone? Is it good? I'm impatiently waiting for the paperback, purely because there's no way I'm moving all my books around to make room for a hardback. I've reread my Sookies (up to book 8) a couple of times and they do stand up to rereading. I hate when you get a book that just doesn't work the second time around.

Dead in the Family is the new one out next month. First chapter of that is online on the author's website. Dead and Gone is the one I'm rereading now (library book). It's out in paperback next week I think. I preordered that along with the new one (hardback is only $12 so not too bad).

Dead and Gone is definetly good but also very different. It's different because of the fae war. I don't want to give anymore away but it's different than the vampire coup or the werewolf war. It shocked me a bit like the bombing of Rhodes did. I was just so tired when I read it, desperate to know what happened, lol, that I missed the nuances of it which is why I'm doing a reread before returning the book to the library.

Caught the first ten minutes of an episode of True Blood on HBO. Ack. Horrible. First off, only Sookie bears a striking resemblance to any character from the book. They added (Jessica) or changed (Pam, Lafayette) way too much from the original series written by the author. I found it so distasteful, I won't watch it again. I know from a Sookie group on GRs here that quite a few fans of the books, love the series, but to me, there isn't much resemblance between the two. I'll stick to the books.

i've never read the books, but have the first season of the show on DVD (target had it on sale) - but I think like with any book turned into tv show or movie...got to keep them separte...its like bones and the kathy reichs books...the tv show is loosely based on the books (i.e. she is a forensic anthropologist in the show), but that's about it
