Jael wrote: "congrats Karen on completing the challenge."Thanks, Jael... I surprised myself with how much I've read since last weekend. It was soo hot that I really didn't wanna do anything so I just sat & read :)
Karen won with 2,179 pages read before FEB. 23rd. Everyone can continue to count for personal goals. New challenge starts with zero. What's the challenge Karen? Oh and did you list a prize Jael?
Oh ok then. We will see if Karen posts a new challenge. If not, I'll post something tonight. I am going to be on the road to California tomorrow. So the next few days will be iffy about being online. Ur pages counted for the new challenge won't begin until it is posted.
oh cool! 2 books!ok, 5000 pages by 13 March.
Prize: 4 books (2 new store bought ones & 2 via swap)
Kenjii, is it ok to set prize condition like that?
Karen: Sure! In fact what kind of swap are you thinking? From us or like PBS or something? Great challenge Karen. Page counts being NOW
Kenjii wrote: "Karen: Sure! In fact what kind of swap are you thinking? From us or like PBS or something? Great challenge Karen. Page counts being NOW"Well, any swap sites people are a member of. Since I'm in Australia, I can't be a member of PBS but I am of bookmooch. And I don't think it's fair to ask for people to send internationally. Of course, if they want to, that's ok too...
I have bookmooch. I can reserve a book and go from there. I can ship internationally but it all depends on how many swaps I have done already. Let me know what you think of idea.

I am OUT. Well not offically but I will be buying Desire Unchained for my March Mini Read FEB. 24th. So he challenge will start for me March 1st. There are a couple expections I have made for these challenge but not even new releases counts as a freebie during a challenge
I remember to write down the book's title and author on a list I keep when I finish the book. But I keep forgetting to count pages. Since several are library books, they've already been returned.
Briansgirl. The best I can tell you is use something like notepad or MSWord to track your books right on the computer. Then as you are reading you can keep count of your pages and mark off what you have counted. Ex: 1-100 counted then start on 101 next time you read again. Remember fromt and back counts =)Challenge deadline March 13th. Goal 5,000 pages read. Reward: 2 new books for you + 2 swapped books!
Tip: Get a second chance. Did you know you have a second chance at challenges that overlap into a new month? Like me for example. I am buying a book for a BOM read in one month but the challenge runs until the middle of the next month. The rules state each month you have an opportunity to start fresh.
Karen wrote: "From 13/02/2009:..."Update:
State of the Union by Douglas Kennedy - 40 pages
When We Were Orphans by Kazuo Ishiguro - 313 pages
PS I Love You by Cecelia Ahern - 503 pages
Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris - 304 pages
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - 208 pages
School's Out Forever (Maximum Ride 2) by James Patterson - 403 pages
Total: 3,318 pages
WTG Karen. AS far as I can tell YOU are #1 =). There is another thread in the P& UF Monthly Group reads but I still think your it.
Thanks Kenji, I chose 5,000 pages thinking that I'd probably not reach it and now, it seems like I'd get there in no time at all!Update:
The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux - 368 pages
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak - 584 pages
Total: 4,270 pages
Karen: It is a breeze when your reading about 10 or more books a month =DEven though I had to bow out this month b/c I am purchasing a BOM read my monthly total was 4850. And there is STILL a few days til the March 13th deadline. LOL. I would have been so close...I actually have not bought the book yet but I will AND next month I found out the 3rd book in the series comes out, lol. Maybe I will win the challenge and not have to lose my pages counted!!!
Some books considered for my March reads (pages approx.)Shifter antho. (329)
After Glow by Jane Ann Krentz (JAK) 343)
Shadow Whispers By Linda Conrad (243)
Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning (KMM) (375)
Dark Elves: Taken by Jet Mykles (143)
Since the challenges overlap and run into other months. I decided to change the book buying rule. If you buy a book during a challenge, then that cancels you from the challenge. BUT you can join the next challenge even if it is in the same month. I realize now that this is a fun challenge and waiting a month if you have to buy a book, to play, is not fair. I had to buy a BOM book (b/c it is a new release) and realized that if other people are doing the same thing its not so fun to wait. So if your still playing but have bought a book during this challenge after March 13th YOU CAN join the next challenge!
Since Karen was the last to post with over 3,000 I will announce her the winner =). I will give her until 6 pm tonight to set a new challenge so we won't have to wait long to start counting our pages again. Her reward. 2 new books 2 used books. If your interested in swapping with her please let her know =).
Ok! New challenge begins now! Page count zero. Challenge name: Anew. Goal 2,500 pages read by March 31 2009 (or whoever reaches the highest posted goal first). Reward 3 new or used books + bookmark =D.
I would love to join this challenge but it is absolutely impossible for me to NOT buy books. I wouldn't even try this b/c I know it's not going to happen in this lifetime. : )
Hehe- It is a CHALLENGE in all sense of the word for sure. Even I can't say for sure I'll make it but I love a challenge.
Added challenge: Read a book with a word that starts with "M" in the title for a surprise bonus from the challenge host (Kenjii). Shifter anthology finished 3-17-08 (148)
Challenge Anew: total 148
Shifter (XX)The Englor Affair (XX)

Phoenix rising by Kimberley Gardner (ebook) pages aren't listed but I am guessing about 200. It is a full length novel. If anyone knows where I can get page numbers for this (or other unlisted e-book pages) lemme know?

The newest challenges are posted by the winners and can range anywhere in number of pages and reward. Best of fun!
