Count Off Challenge
No point in doing a leaderboard if I'm the only one playing. What's up folks? Is everyone not reading? Buying too many books to play? Do we need to take a break from this challenge and start up again in August when school starts?

I think I am done buying for now... do I have to wait for the next round to start back in? Or can I start with what I read after my last purchase? Can I count that last purchase as pages read?
Welcome Back.Start from the date/time of your last purchase. And yes, if you read that purchase it can count. lol
I managed to get my purchases in during a church's book sale last month, timed almost perfectly to fall between challenges. Got used books. Anything new I'm reading is coming from the library. I just can't afford many new releases, not at nearly $20 each!
I know what you mean. I had been getting library books too. I recently moved and no longer have access to the huge metro library system. I lost my place in line for all the new releases then broke down and bought them. I chalked it up to moving expenses! The new library has a bus that comes around every 2 weeks though so I am excited about that... It just requires pre-planning. I will update my list from this week and post later tonight.

OKay, I have to reset to zero. I absolutely just could not pass this up. A complete set of all the works of Jane Austin, in ten volumes. Complete in a collectors box, all volumes 3x5 inches with gold edges on all the pages. This is the exact set below:

I'd have loved it even if it wasn't $2. But for that price, I wasn't gonna pass it up! :)I've only read her Pride & Prejudice, and I had to read that the first time around with an Annotated Version (after seeing the movie) so I'd understand it all. I have a copy of Emma and Sense and Sensability in paperback already. I didn't have the others.
Interestingly enough, there is no publisher information, ISBN number, etc that is usually the fine print on the back of the title page. So I have absolutely no clue who made this lovely collector's edition. The bottom front of hte box folds up and the lid holds is closed and it's embossed with gold lettering on the top of the case saying what's in it. I don't think it's been read before because I started rereading Pride & Prejudice and the gold tipped edges of the pages are stuck together and I'm having to carefully turn the pages.

Kate, what a great find!! I bought some books as well, but only 3 of them were big bargains and one was half-price. Then I bought some that were in my Amazon basket. Unfortunately for my page count, I didn't do that all at once, so I kept wiping out my pages read before I even posted them! But I finally read a book after my buying binges, so I'm on the board - May Summer Reading Challenge

All Clear by Connie Willis - 5.24 - 643 pages
This is book 2 of a really great time-travel story - I love Connie Willis!
I'm very slowly, a few pages at a time, rereading Pride & Prejudice. In this case, the mini volume 1. It's on my nightstand.I'm getting some new & used books soon, but they are birthday presents. :)
It's been ongoing for a couple years Cherie. Dates of challenges change often. This one just happens to end at the end of the month. Some only last 2-3 weeks. If someone hits the goal early, then the challenge ends and we start a new one. So check back often.

Well, I wiped out my big book! Guess I don't want to win this challenge!! I bought some more books the other day - couldn't resist this one - Audible had a sale on all the In Death books, so I stocked up. Now have the series to #30 (I'm currently listening to #17, so that gives me plenty of listening! My hubby loves them also, so we get double-duty there). As long as I was buying, I also bought some used books from Amazon that have been on my wishlist awhile. So, reset me to zero and then add the one I finished yesterday

I'm trying to slowly finish my (free kindle) ebook on my ipod. Up to 79% now. With it being Memorial Day weekend, two family birthday's (my mother's and mine) and my truck driver husband home for the weekend... I've had very little time to read over this long holiday weekend. But that's okay... I was given gift cards to buy books off Amazon for my birthday! (I didn't reset since they were gifts, and they won't arrive for another week at least. One is preordered for a July release.)

Even before Dawn posted her pages today, she was still in the lead when the challenge ended yesterday. So Congratulations Dawn! Please set us up a new challenge. If you don't see this to post a new challenge by tomorrow, I'll go ahead and post one. Anything read starting June 1st counts towards the new challenge, since the last one ended May 31st.
I would have had to reset so glad a new challenge is starting. I got a couple gift cards to Amazon and bought several books last week that all started arriving today. And yesterday, my brand new kindle arrived, so although I have free ebook kindle reads to read on it, I had to buy just a few ebooks available only for the kindle that I've had on my wishlist (as I've read something else by the author and wanted to read more by them.)
