Kim (celticoracle) | 7 comments I just added a new book to the site My First Counting Board Book, and somehow stumbled across this book: My First Number Board Book.

The cover on my book is exactly the same, except for "Counting" being "Number", and the publisher being different (mine's Scholastic and the other is DK) and from the reviews it seems like it is the same book. Should this be another edition of My First Number Board Book, or should it remain its own record?

Data | 33 comments Since it has a different ISBN, it should have its own record. And since it has the same author, it should most likely be combined as two different editions of the same book. If you need help with that, just reply back here.

Kim (celticoracle) | 7 comments I do need help with that indeed - especially since I'm not a librarian. :) Does the bar code on a book correspond to the ISBN? If it doesn't, I can't find where it's hiding on this book.

Thanks so much for your help!

Data | 33 comments Often the barcode is printed with the ISBN in close proximity (as in ISBN above, the barcode below), but it really can appear in a number of places. The back cover is most common for books without a dustcover. It is on the GoodReads page for each of the books in question.

I am now hesitating to combine these books, as one has 30 pages, the other has 36. That indicates to me that there is some discrepancy between the content of the two books. I can't find any evidence from searching other sites that they are the same book, just similar, certainly part of the same series.

Assuming those page counts are accurate.

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments Based off the information on WorldCat I think it's safe to combine them.

The entry for counting is published by Scholastic Canada and has a Note that says "A Dorling Kindersley Book."

The entry for number is a 1st American Edition published after counting and published by DK.

Seems to me that information makes sense together.

Both books are unpaged so I wouldn't worry about the page number discrepancy.

Kim (celticoracle) | 7 comments Wow, I hadn't known WorldCat existed - thanks Vicky. It does look like they should be versions of the same book. If someone gets a minute to combine these, that would be awesome. :)
