If the story continued...

What do you think would have happened if the author continued the story?
If you could, what would you change about the story? If you don't think there is anything to change, then what was the best part of this story?
What do you think is the true meaning of this story?

I think that that would be a good way to continue the story. I really wished Courtney would make a sequel or something to this book, it was heart wrenching to have to close it for good and not know what happened next. But I did love it. It was an amazing read. Very action and emotion packed.
I think that it probably would have centered around Rhys and Sloane heading to Rayford. But it'd probably be one of those things where they get there only to find it too was destroyed since Sloane seems not to get a break in the book. lol. Then they'd probably have to get together to get where ever and probably pick up a group like join them or something with Cary's mind set that they have strength in numbers. >_>
If I could change the story....well I wish Cary had lived. Like I was SOOOOO sad when I read that part him going around the corner and then when they were in the house and Rhys asks the question and they come to conclusion that he isn't coming back. Gosh! T_T so sad. I wish like, when they were leaving idk they seen him running down the street with a horde behind him running for his life, and they stop and do an epic back door open car in motion rescue as he dives in and is safe. I hated that he had to die! T_T
I also didn't want Grace to die, that was sad. I teared up about it. And then oh gosh Trace. I mean I was pretty pissed when he kicked on Sloane for missing the shot--always blaming everyone else--but then my heart dropped when he shot himself. It was expected yeah, but I expected it back at the school. Like maybe Sloane was going to go see him and Grace before they left, seeing what he decided and he says he's going to stay with Grace not want to leave her. And then when she's OUT of the room AWAY from him, then shoot himself--since he kept the gun. Then he would have died by his sister instead of the abandoned house AWAY from his sister. T_T that was sad and my heart dropped, I literallly let out a singe "TRACE!" frightening several people beside me on the bus. Haha.
My favorite part though was when Sloane and Rhys were outside. n_n I liked the fast pace of it and all the descriptiveness of it. I cringed when she descriped that girl coming towards her and everything, ewww. lol. But I liked that epic and intense survival stratagey that she just suddenly did, knocking that guy down that was shouting for Mr. Baxter. Man, that was crazy. But it was all to save Rhys which I thought was sweet--strangely enough. Lol. she didn't want to be like Lilly and I liked that. It showed just how serious she was about saving the others and only killing herself.
The meaning of the story...hmmm I'm not sure. I think it probably has a message like "life goes on" or "putting the past behind you" or something like that since that's basically what Sloane did. It took the death of nearly all her group and her sister and father for her to see that, but hey better late then never I guess. And also that whole scene at the end with the dead zombie girl at the window--which I thought maybe she had completely lost it and was going to open the door and it was going to end with her getting bit and welcoming the virus O_O--and she's staring into her eyes and seems to leave everything of the past in that little girls eyes. that's what i got from that ending. Lol. It was pretty abrupt and I expected an epilogue but...there was none.
Sorry for the long response, but I had a lot to say. lol. n_n
I wish there would be a sequel though. u_u Probably a stand alone, but still. >_>

but...were they even sure that Cary had died when they were actually inside the house :)
I loved this book... and I think that it ends the way it should.. if that makes sense, I think adding another book or couple would water down the whole experience of the original book, I think there are enough books in this genre where the have jumped on the bandwagon of having a couple of sequels but very few that have gotten that right mix that the first book did.
I doubt Cary died, he left them. Had they stayed together at some point survival/sacrifice choices would have been made in the moment again, like he had made before. He was a survivor, someone who could and would think and react in this new reality where there were no longer societal rules, just survival. He had already made it clear he believed the so called sanctuary of Rayford was a trap. He went his own way and set Rhys and Sloane "free". It would be an interesting sequel were they to meet up again.
