Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Dawn Dyllan claimed stairs in Post 90 and I didn't see it on the spreadsheet. Thank you!!!

Sheila (sheilaj) | 1 comments Toni, I was just looking at the spreadsheet and trying to figure out what I could look for that will help the team out. I was thinking mountain/cliff, blood and red. Not sure on the people. All depending on what is called of course.

How does this work at the end. Do we go until a grouop completely fills out the spreadsheet?

Paris (pah13) Sheila wrote: "How does this work at the end. Do we go until a grouop completely fills out the spreadsheet? "

Yep. A winner is declared as soon as all the items are claimed by a team. And then the rest keep going to determine second and third etc.

message 154: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) | 1 comments Thnaks Paris. I was just wondering if it would be helpful if we all aimed for finding the filling out the same non called things or not.

It would get us points faster which is always nice. That's kind of what I'm gonna be shooting for (depending on what's called).

Katherine (katdylan) Do you guys have any suggestion for a shoreline book that's not PNR, or UF? I read a nice book yesterday and claimed all items, and in the end it was only 170 pages :(
Now I have no idea what to read. Help me Team!

WEEK 4

ITEM: SHORELINE
BOOK: Arranged
AUTHOR: Catherine McKenzie
LENGTH: 416 PAGES
RATING: 2.5 STARS
Arranged by Catherine McKenzie

REVIEW:

Catherine McKenzie is a new author for me, and this book has grabbed my attention long ago.
The idea of a arranged marriage it may sounds extreme but is also appealing, I guess you never know unless you have to face this decision. In this book case, however there's something which wasn't clicking for me. The first person POV is okay, but I can't really know what the other person think and feels. Jack was this blank character. He's nice, alright, he's cool and he seems in love. But I just can't feel, and when there's a turning point and his big secret is revealed, I don't feel him at all. IMO, Catherine McKenzie build a good character in theory,, but didn't delivered in a way I could like him.
Anne was okay, I still would like to know why she had this fixation with dark-haired, blue-eyed guys.
I liked McKenzie's writing style, she's a good author. This is a good story, but something was missing for me.

Paris (pah13) Week 5 - Wheel

The Renfield Syndrome (Rhiannon's Law, #2) by J.A. Saare by J.A. Saare
Rating: ★★★★★
Finished: 9/28/12

Wheel: Sputting at the start until the wheels rolled smoothly underneath. location 282.
Color: black - The black heels that clicked over the pavement. location 182
Place: metropolitan area - something especially uncharacteristic of New York - no sounds. location 144
People: non-human - One minute I was in my apartment ready to get back to my vampire boyfriend. location 114

This book picks up right where book one left off, in a screwed up future that I would never want to be in. When book one ended I was unsure of how the author could get herself out of this weird place she had taken Rhiannon. Would she ever get back to where she was supposed to be? And then J.A. tool me on a roller coaster ride of surprise, craziness and even some heartbreaking moments. I freaking loved every second of this book.

And then of course there’s Rhiannon and her smart ass mouth. Man, the one liners and comebacks in this book were even better than the first one. She’s such a wonderfully snarky heroine and she kicks ass too. I don’t know if I could ask for a better protagonist. And I have to say I loved getting more Paine in this book. I found him fascinating in the first book and really wished we had gotten to know him better and I got my wish in The Renfield Syndrome.

I am dying to jump into the next book. I can’t wait to see how things progress from where Rhiannon was in the end of book two. She has a lot she has to do and a mess that she needs to clean up. Should be super awesome to read. I am so thankful that Jenne recommended these books because without her recommendation I don’t think I’d ever have given them the chance and they are so worth the chance.

PS I read this book in a couple of hours because it was so fun to read.

My Name Is Memory by Ann Brashares My Name Is Memory by Ann Brashares

Throughout time Daniel is in love with Sophia. Through many reincarnations he recognizes her but she doesn't remember. But now in our time they are finally the same age and he HAS to make her remember him from earlier meetings throughout time. Interesting concept. Lots of historical references throughout many era's. I give it ★★★ 's

Places - Mountains/ cliff - Every morning she looked at the far line of peaks page 423
Things Wheel - It might have had wheels once page 58

WEEK 5

ITEM: WHEEL
BOOK: Double Down
AUTHOR: Katie Porter
LENGTH: 324 PAGES
RATING: 5 STARS
Double Down (Vegas Top Guns, #1) by Katie Porter

REVIEW:

Ryan is a fighter jet pilot whom had a rough start in life, and now his work to be better than the place he used to live is paying off. He's a war hero Major at 29, and a legend among other pilots. However his past, and his desires seems to be so together that he can't seem to have one without the other.
Cassandra is a woman afraid of moving on in life. She's okay with the 'good-enough's, and at the same time wistful of bigger things for her. She's stuck between 3 jobs, and she can't seem to go with what she loves most, Art.
When Ryan enters her life, he changes her and her routine. Ryan is changed too, he's finally free to step on the fantasies he's had for a long time. They are so good as a couple. Their sex are hot enough to burn, but they want-NEED more. Ryan, though has his past again caughting up on him, which makes him afraid of losing Cassandra, and himself to his fear. Cassandra is no Barbie Doll, however, and she won't let him run and hide, from her or him.

Wowza, did I totally LOVE this book! Katie Porter is a new author for me, I read a couple days ago their interviews at a book blog and got totally hooked on their books. First in the Vegas Top Guns series, Double Down has it all. It's erotica and romance with a great plot to hold it all together.
P.S.: I laughed out loud at Ryan's nickname true meaning!

Hey Toni, before Friday do you want to make a list of what we are closest to. I'll go for whatever items I need to help get us a point the soonest. A lot of my books have been pretty open. Like when I picked mountain/cliff, there was a bar, a forest, a metropolitan area, a road...

Sheila (sheilaj) | 1 comments I just learned something that will be very helpful to us all. Ezi in another challenge I am in posted this message.

---------

Instead of buying a book, you can check for words, by going to Amazon and pull up the paperback or hardcover (not kindle). It usually says something like "Look Inside".
If you click on "look inside", you can search for a word.
I do this when I listen to an audiobook and it has the word that I need for my challenge. That way I can write the down the exact sentence and see what page it was on.

-------

I just tried this and it totally works! I've been going by dumb luck so far but from now on I am checking the items out first before picking my book.

Paris (pah13) Week 6 - Blue

Endgame (Sirantha Jax, #6) by Ann Aguirre by Ann Aguirre
Rating: ★★★
Finished: 10/6/12

Blue: Through the windows, the sky overhead is a gauzy blue. page 8
People: Couple - Sirantha and March are a couple as well as Farah and Loras. Throughout the book, but Farah and Loras get married on page 325
Place: Forest - Out of camp and into the quiet of the surrounding forest. page 303
Thing: Wing - It's time to let the baby bird spread his wings and fly. page 330

I wasn’t as into this book as I was the first five and I’m not sure if that was me or the book. I read the first five in quick succession, but then I had to wait a really long time for this one. Perhaps that time was too much or maybe this book just wasn’t as interesting…I just don’t know. Either way, I wasn’t that into the action part of this book, I found the stuff with the resistance army a tad bit boring and I actually found myself wanting to skip parts of the book, but I knew that I couldn’t because you never knew when something good/meaningful would happen.

I still don’t fully understand the relationship between Jax and Vel. I get that they’re friends, but the depth of their relationship baffles me. Or that March would be jealous of it enough to offer to step back and let Vel have her. Ultimately I like the way the book ended. Things were wrapped up well and it was really great to see Sasha come into his own. Still a part of me is a little sad that this was the end of such a great series. I hope Jax and the rest all live happily ever after…or rather the happily ever after that fits that group.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Week 6 Blue

I read The Naked Baronthis week. I loved her first book The Naked Duke. I think the writing style is fast and easy to read. I want to read more in this series soon. I started this book on Friday and finished it last night Saturday October 6th.

Items: Blue She wore a blue dress to a dance, Single Female Miss Winifred Smyth the lady with the monkey and parrot, Forest They mention the forest around the house, wings Theo flapped his wings

Sheila (sheilaj) | 1 comments Week 6 - Blue Called 10/5

Dead as a Doornail (Sookie Stackhouse, #5) by Charlaine Harris Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris

Finished 10/7

# 5 in the Sookie Stackhouse series. If it wasn't for bad luck Sookie wouldn't have any luck at all. Someone is shooting the changelings and her brother Jason is about to turn into a were-panther while being suspected of doing the shootings.

I'm not really "into" the vampire genre but I enjoy the comedy involved in Sookie's life. She reminds me of Stephanie Plum only southern. I especially like these in audiobook. I give it ★★★

People - Non-human - Jason were/panther and a myriad of werewolves
Places - The woods around Hotshot page 5 = (for forest)
Things - they'd developed synthetic blood page 6
Colors - BLUE - I was wearing low-riding blue jeans page 28

Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost ** 08.10

Item:
1. Blue - on the cover
2. Single male - on the cover
3. Road - Only one narrow road wound it's way through the valley. - page 324
4. Stairs - ...Talvai hustled me up the stairs and into an upper bedroom closet. - page 296

It's getting little old for me. I was hoping something new and exciting that you can't stop reading it, but not such luck :( The story was too simple and didn't give excitement that i was hoping from this book.
