How do you delete an author?

Someone added the author for the book Guilty Wives as "James Patterson, David Ellis," so now there's this author that called "James Patterson, David Ellis." It was a mistake obviously, so I corrected it on the book but how do I delete this new author that doesn't exist?

There are two ways. If the profile is completely empty you can just wait and eventually a script will get rid of it. The second way is to edit the author profile and merge it into another*. To merge you change the author name you are merging to exactly was on the author profile you are merging into, and then save. It will ask you which profile you wish to keep; choose the appropriate one and away you go.

*This will not work for Goodreads authors.

I usually just merge it with one of the authors.
