Tanya (viollet) | 4 comments I am new to Groups in general and of course new to this group as well. I love reading Mystery, Crime & Thriller books and am always running around trying to find new authors I haven't read yet. I also like to read different stuff, like a little fantasy, a little spirituality there, one or two self improvement, etc. I am hoping through this group I can find lots and lots of new authors. Some authors I have read are: Bill Cameron, Lee Child (love him), Harlan Corbin, Michael Connolly, Janet Evanovich, Lisa Gardner, John Grisham, Iris Johansen, both Kellerman's, James Patterson, and Nickolas Sparks. Looking forward to meeting you guys, reading and sharing some excellent books.

Bill Welcome to the group, Tanya. I've only read a couple of your authors, Lee Child (recent introduction) and Janet Evanovich (love her books) and James Patterson. Enjoy the conversations and I'm sure you'll get many suggestions here.

Daniel Munroe (danielkmunroe) | 6 comments Hi Tanya. Welcome to the group. I'm also fairly new here and finding my way. Lee Child, the delightful Janet Evanovich, and Harlen Corbin from amongst the names you mentioned also feature highly in my favorites list. I'm really enjoying the site for discovering books I've never come across elsewhere. Now ... if only I had even more time to read ... Regards, DKM

That is the a big problem not enough time to read. Daniel if you have just discovered Lee Child you are going to love him. His books keep me at the edge of my seat, cant put it down till its finished and then I am sad I have finished. I dont know if you know or not but they have made one of his books into a movie, I was very dissappointed to learn that Tom Cruise is playing Reacher. What a waste in my opinion Reacher is so much bigger then Tom Cruise, at least in my mind :)
Evanovich is a quick fun read and they are very entertaining.

There was a thread here discussing the choice of Tom Cruise as Reacher and I got the impression most folks didn't think he was suited. From the book I've read, I tend to agree. I also didn't think Katherine Heigl was a good choice for Stephanie Plum, but to be fair, I haven't seen the movie yet. Evanovich is indeed fun to read, one of the few series where I've actually laughed out loud while reading. You might like to try M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin books. They are also a nice light, humourous mystery series.

Wendy | 581 comments Oh Darn it! Now I have to add Lee Child to my TBR as well as reread Evanovich. Can anyone recommend any Lee Child? I can't read J Kellerman as his plots make me uncomfortable, but I have read and collected almost all of F Kellerman. They also have a daughter who has written a YA novel with Mom and a son who has written a few too.

Tom Cruise? Are they going to surround him with midgets?

Start with "The Killing Floor" his first. The Jack Reacher books are great, but I really think they should be read in order, mostly because of life-changing events. Sometimes I like a quiet mystery (no guns, blood, etc.). For that I find Kate Morton's plots very intriguing.
