I should be finished Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #1) by Joanne Fluke later today and then onto a buddy read with Dee ... if she`s still up for it

message 505: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 2098 comments Finished my first pick for the month. Leslie and I did a buddy read of Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan . Loved it!! Lily and Ryland were great together. Will continue this series.

message 506: by Alexis (last edited Sep 08, 2012 04:09PM) (new)

Alexis (LexaReads) | 375 comments KarenH I know I said I'd read double play first, but my ebook of it is messed up so I can't get past chapter 2. I'm pretty let down because it was getting really good, but oh well I'll read it another time.

Anyways, I did read It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I really enjoyed it! I started reading this one a few months ago, and that funeral just seemed so fake i put it down. I'm really glad you got me to pick it back up though because I really loved the rest of the story. I started off hating all the characters... but by the end I had fallen in love with them! I can't wait to read the second book in the series! I'm starting The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie tonight!

message 507: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I finished two of my picks. Deadlocked (Sookie Stackhouse, #12) by Charlaine Harris was better than I expected after the last couple of installments of the series. Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage (Highland Pleasures, #2) by Jennifer Ashley was a nice follow-up to Lord Ian. I especially liked the subject matter of Mac being a recovering alcholic and how he struggles to overcome his demons in order to win back his estranged wife.

Thanks to Melissa for the push to read these!

message 508: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 2098 comments Sandy ~ I'm glad you enjoyed your picks. I think I read the first couple of the Sookie series and then never got back to it (too many series too little time syndrome) ~ maybe I should look into them again.

message 509: by Kristina Simon (new)

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) I just finished my first pick -- The Next Always (Inn BoonsBoro, #1) by Nora Roberts -- and loved it! Nora never lets me down. ;-) Thanks for the push to finally pick it up, Valerie!

I'm still hoping to get to Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning this month, but I've got a few books (that I unceremoniously tossed aside when I got into The Next Always) to finish up first.

message 510: by Macwolf01 [Elise] (new)

Macwolf01 [Elise] (macwolf01) | 1012 comments Nancy, finished Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #1) by Joanne Fluke , its a fun mystery, I have a few more of Fluke's books I'll definitely give them a go.

message 511: by Carrie (new)

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 990 comments Hi Regina finished Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione last night. Thought it was great, not going to lie though I almost changed my pick because I just wasn't feeling it. Glad I decided to give it more of a try because I devoured it once I really got into it. So thank you for the pick.

Tack's book was my favorite out of all of them with Halk's at a very close tie, but all of them were intense and very good. I'm def. going to be reading the rock chocs serious soon.

Emily | 199 comments Dee,

I finished Rainshadow Road (Friday Harbor, #2) by Lisa Kleypas today 9/9. I really loved this story about Sam. I loved how the story ended for all of the characters. Cant wait to read the next in the series. Thanks for the recommendation. I will be picking up our buddy read tomorrow from the library.

I have to space my Kristen Ashley reads otherwise the grammatical errors and run-on sentences will kill me XD. I'm halfway through with the Rock Chicks but I will start her Colorado series sometime this month. I hear good things about that one too!

message 517: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ | 2098 comments Leslie ~ I finished Malice (New Orleans, #6) by Lisa Jackson my second pick for the month. I love the way this author weaves her suspense novels. 4.5 stars. I hadn't read her for a while so thanks for the push to pick her books up again and enter her world. Will be getting the next in this series soon.

I loved the first in her Colorado series. I've loved all of her books honestly, she really draws you in. You are so right though, the grammar drives me nuts!! She really needs better editing.

message 519: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Amanda

It's all your fault. Now I have another series to start reading. LOL

I really enjoyed Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr and knowing Preacher's story is next, makes me want to start it that much sooner.

Thanks for the rec!

I started Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James and so far I'm not really impressed. I was kind of afraid it couldn't live up to all the media hype, but I added it to my TBR anyway. One thing that really bothers me is the present tense writing. For me, it's an uncomfortable style to read. I'm not that far into it, so maybe the story will pick up and I'll get more involved with the characters.

Megan L Harnett | 806 comments Hi Carla,

I finished Wild Man (Dream Man, #2) by Kristen Ashley today. I am continuing to love this series! It has action in it as well as good steamy scenes! A good mix of both! Thanks for the great pick!

Melissa - I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think I will have to add it to my TBR pile. I've read some other RS by this author, but nothing that grabs me. So I'll try this one!

message 523: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) Hi Rena, I finished my pick Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, #2) by Lisa Kleypas on the 7th and I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure if I'll have time to get to any more of my picks this month, but hopefully soon.

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments Hi Mandy, I finished my first book Warrior today 9/11/12. Although it is not my favorite book I really liked the concept of the book. The ending kept me reading into wee hours because I had to know what happened. I give it 3 1/2 stars.

Wow, that really stinks about Double Play! I'm glad you liked It Had to Be You though. With the exception of a couple of her very early books that had much more of a chick-lit feel to them, I've loved everything I've read by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I've still got her latest on my TBR, but I'm not going to be able to resist it much longer, I'm sure. ;)

I hope you enjoy The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie, I liked it and the next book in the series a lot, and I can't wait until I can find a place to fit the next book into a challenge!

There are some really awesome ones in the Lake Eden Cookbook that has you choosing different ingredients from different columns and making your own variations, and they rock!! I forget what they are called, but every time I make them, my family and friends clamor for more!

Nancy H | 1113 comments Gisbelle,
I just finished Chasing Jordan, and I LOVED it!! I read it almost all in one day because it was so good. It reminds me of the Catherine Murdock series, Dairy Queen, which is another awesome series about a girl who plays football (and could have been set in my hometown!!!). If people like books like this one, they will love that series, too. I also saw that Simone Elkeles has recommended this (cover comments) and I love her writing also.

Thanks for recommending this. It was a great read!!

Glad that you liked it--it's one that I haven't read, but it's now on my to-read list. :)

message 535: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments finished my fourth (yowza!) PIFM a few days ago: Raven's Shadow (Raven Duology, #1) by Patricia Briggs . Definitely interesting - I like high fantasies good enough, but I want a liberal dose of romance with my fantasy. Patricia Briggs is a good writer but I kept looking at my % finished and wondering when the end was, so... not sure I'll pick up the 2nd one.

message 536: by Melissa (new)

I'm glad you liked it! This is one of my very favorite paranormal series.

message 539: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (esmerelda1) | 2244 comments I finished one of my PIFM titles! Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh was pretty good. I thought the main character dying was a bit of overkill but it ended up tying into the storyline so I guess it was ok. I thought the story was dramatic enough without adding that into it but oh well. ***

Mine to Possess (Psy-Changeling, #4) by Nalini Singh

I can totally see why...I can't stop thinking about this book! I LOVE YA books and sometimes the intense teen romance is over the top. This was NOT the case in Unearthly. It was so real and believable and I can't stop thinking about how sweet it was to read about them falling in love :)

message 543: by Jojo (new)

Jojo | 1010 comments Hi Sue - I finished Rescue Melast night - it's been a while since I read a Rachel Gibson book and I'd forgotten how much fun they are to read. Thanks for the great rec.
