I don't know what this person was thinking when they manually added this book. Maybe they only wanted to rate 1 book instead of the whole series.

It's not a book. It's someone making a "series" as a book to rate it as 1 thing. So yes, delete it.

Yianna, what happened there is that the ISBN of this hardcover edition was inputted incorrectly. The correct hardcover ISBN is attached to the book you linked to. To rectify this, the two will need to be merged, which I'll go do now (unless someone else gets to it first). I've now done. :)

The non-ISBN has the English cover and the ISBN version has the Japanese cover. I can fix that. Unless you want to do it.

Fixed. Can you delete the non-ISBN version. I don't know why the ISBN version was using the Japanese cover.

I got 216 and 218. As Krystal stated, the English books were using the Japanese covers. (In this case, someone then added another edition using the English cover and no ISBN.) I see this quite often with manga for some reason. Maybe because the artwork is the same, so people think that adding the Japanese cover is close enough? ~shrug~

Sometimes they are really close...except for the publishers logo. I think some people don't scan their copies and just use existing images on the net and think it's the same one.

I think this is an issue of someone not quite understanding how to add a new book.

The user who added it marked it as an ebook published in 1978. I'm sure that's not right.

Also the page number for the edition linked is 27,043. There is no way that edition has 27 THOUSAND pages and the word count would be way over 27k for a novel that size, so who knows where that even came from.

*smacks self* My eyes are playing tricks on me; I read it as 2.7k (which, while stunningly high, didn't seem entirely implausible since I have zero familiarity with the work in question), not 27k. In that case, I'm thinking it's definitely a duplicate, so I'll merge it.

I'm now wondering what the best way to handle these Läckberg entries. Sometime between this morning and now, another copy of The Stonecutter was added under "Lackberg" and managed to be added 7 times before I saw it. Without an aka for authors to handle the accent issue, I don't know what solution would work best for such a popular author: 1) keep coming in here for a super (which is fine by me), 2) let entries accumulate under Lackberg and edit and combine once a week, 3) some other solution?

I'm fine with posting them. I just didn't want to be annoying as I anticipate more entries in the coming weeks as it circulates over the summer (esp. since one of my own friends told me they couldn't find it to add it). And, as #4 on up come out in the US and #6-8 in Britain, the problem will continue without an aka (I know I'm preaching to the choir on this).

It doesn't help that the British publisher changed the name of book 4 after the first print run. :-)

I think a new profile gets created for her every few days. I've been editing the author name and combining them when I can, but once they hit 5 adds I need a super to delete the additional book.

Nate, you need to be more careful when doing these things. Also do NOT get the covers from google images as they are likely being sourced from a bookseller website.

I looked at the cover and thought it was a duplicate. Although, you are right. I have to be more careful.

The author website isn't a bookseller website, is it? I looked at the website the picture was from and it was from the author website.

Author and publishers are okay. No google images in the future like you did with the Galstanberry #3 though. Unless you click, go to website and make sure it is NOT a bookseller website.
