Miss | 259 comments I finished Fever, for the Paranormal Romance shelf - 03/10/2011, 4 stars.

This was a really intense Postapocalyptic book, that got me immersed in that world. I read it in one sitting. The entire book is full of heartache and trials for the protagonists, but it does move the plot forward. I subtracted a star because of the ending, it felt really abrupt and incomplete, not like a cliffhanger but more like I turned the page, but there were no more pages. Can't wait for the next book though.

Sandra | 25912 comments We've had the next shelf announcment - Paranomal Mystery

Off to update you Miss :) and I hate it when you turn the page and there isn't any more, when there should be.

Hope you enjoy Charley, Miss, I sure did :)

message 217: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments I finished Siren Song for the PNR shelf today (3/12) and gave it 3 stars.

Celia's life sucks. She's currently in a facility while awaiting trial for the actions of the last book, someone wants her dead, she's having boyfriend problems again, she still has to deal with the challenge from her cousin and oh yeah, she discovers someone placed a death curse on her. There is a lot happening in this book and a lot of characters to keep track of. I'm not happy that it looks like we are heading for a love triangle in the series as I really don't like them.

message 218: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments 3/11/2012 - finished First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones for the Paranormal Mystery shelf, 4.5 stars.

I really enjoyed reading this book, there was a satisfying mystery, a sassy heroine and yummy hero. I thought it had some original ideas and it felt like a fast, easy read. There were many laugh-out-loud moments. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this delightful series!

message 219: by Cathy (new)

Cathy Galloway | 140 comments I will read A Perfect Blood (The Hollows, #10) by Kim Harrison for the Paranormal Mystery.

message 220: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Bugger on the love triangle Diane :(

Glad you loved Charley, Miss, I'm waiting patiently for the 2nd one to come out in MMP, I think it's next month.

Hope you enjoy The Hollows, Cathy. I haven't started that series yet, though I think I've bought the 1st one. So I'll be interested to here what you think about it and whether its kept the magic going after 10 books.

message 221: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments I'm having trouble deciding what to read for paranormal mystery shelf. Here's my shortlist if anyone has some opinions.

An Ice Cold Grave (Harper Connelly, #3) by Charlaine Harris The Witch's Grave (Ophelia & Abby, #6) by Shirley Damsgaard If Walls Could Talk (A Haunted Home Renovation Mystery #1) by Juliet Blackwell Disappearing Nightly (Esther Diamond, #1) by Laura Resnick Tracking the Tempest (Jane True, #2) by Nicole Peeler Hell Fire (Corine Solomon, #2) by Ann Aguirre

message 222: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Well, I can only comment on An Ice Cold Grave cause that's the only one I've read - 3 stars, if you've got something better go with that. LOL

message 223: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments I've heard really good things about the Jane True series Diane, if you enjoyed the first one, I'm curious what your opinion is overall.

message 224: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments Thanks for the opinions. I've decided to read If Walls Could Talk (A Haunted Home Renovation Mystery #1) by Juliet Blackwell

Miss - I did enjoy the first Jane True and will get to the next one eventually.

message 225: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Interesting :)

Never heard of that one Diane. Is it one of those cozy mysteries I've heard of but never read?

message 226: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments It is a paranormal cozy mystery. Cozies are my third favorite genre, after PNR and UF (not necessarily in that order)

message 227: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments What defines a cozy?

I read [book:Disappearing Nightly|1242833] years ago when it was first published by LUNA. It was funny, and I it enjoyed it very much. Waited forever for the sequel because LUNA cancelled the author's contract and it took her a while to get a new one with a new publisher. I'm going to read the second book for this shelf. :D

message 229: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments Cozy mysteries usually have a non police affiliated protagonist (usually female) with very little sex and violence. They also tend to be based around a hobby of some sort (cooking, crafts, home repair, gardening, etc).

Good to know. I'll have to move it up the TBR pile. Thanks!

Sandra | 25912 comments Secrets of the Demon (Kara Gillian, #3) by Diana Rowland
Paranormal Mystery
3/14/12
★★★★★

This series just keeps on getting better, though I did hear #4 has a serious cliffhanger. Not my fav thing.

So in this episode Kara Gillian, homicide cop, demon summoner, member of the woo-woo FBI taskforce goes to check out a run-of-the-mill missing person and finds a dead body. Anyone else would think suicide but Kara can sense the arcane and knows it's murder. And luckily for her the forensics back that up as well.

(view spoiler)

The back and forth between Ryan and the Demon Lord Rhyzkahl continues, but snippets of information are sent Kara's way by various people regarding Ryan and that just makes it all the more intriguing.

This series is heading for some very, very interesting times. Cannot wait for the next one.

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments I finished my book for the Paranormal Mystery shelf today (3/15) and gave it 3 stars.

Mel took over her father's construction business after her divorce and her mother's death to help out her father, but it seems to have taken over her life. Now she's starting to see ghosts and they want her help. Nice tidbits about renovation and gemology but the mystery itself could have used some work. Overall a good cast, so I'll probably check out the next one eventually.

If Walls Could Talk (A Haunted Home Renovation Mystery #1) by Juliet Blackwell

message 238: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Sounds OK Diane, but I shouldn't rush to buy it heh?

message 239: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments There is definitely better paranormal mysteries out there in my opinion, but 3 stars is my norm/good (my average rating is 3.3), so it isn't bad.

The thing with cozies is, a lot of times how much you like a series depends on how interested you are in the hobby topic and home renovation isn't an interest of mine.

message 240: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments As someone who built their own home (with hubby) I better say it's one of mine. LOL

message 241: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments That is impressive, I don't seem to have the knack for doing things like that.

message 242: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Well, technically I was the labourer, hubby was the builder, though I did do some of the construction :D

And no he's not a builder but he is a tradesman, so he figured it out. LOL

message 243: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments It is still pretty cool...
