This is one of my favorite series and it consistently delivers for me. All the books are good mysteries but I really love the ones where there is a development in the Eve-Roarke relationship. Those two are mag! (lol)
There was a lot of tech talk in this one and even though the whodunnit was pretty easy to figure out, I had trouble imagining the how of it, because it seemed so impossible. The explanations at the end made it seem possible (slightly). This series remains at the top of my favorites list.

Val is a 1/8th succubus and channels the energy by slaying vampires. On her 18th birthday, she gets kicked out of the house to "protect" her younger sister but ends up in a better place with a new job, a nice place with a roommate and the best partial hellhound ever - Fang. I loved Fang and might check out the next one because of him, but otherwise the story just seemed a bit lacking. The romance was unrealistic, the bad guy didn't really have a reason and the vampires as a whole were almost pitful.

LOL Pitiful vamps .... that's just sad!!!
Fang sounds fun - what does a partial hellhound do?

Good Job!! :D

Mostly he acts like a normal dog except he can communicate with Val and he can sniff out vampires.

Demon Shelf 27/2/12 ★★★★★
This series just gets better. All the characters from the last book are back and more people know what Kara does, which is a good thing.
Kara, a violent crime detective, is also a Demon Summoner. Which can be tricky as they are pretty dangerous and sneaky. They always have their own agenda.
So this go round, Kara, still has to find her Aunt Tessa's essence (from the last book); find out who is eating essences & then what to do about them; steer her way through the Ryan vs Demon Lord Rhyzkahl jealousy; find out just who/what Ryan really is; break into her Aunt's library to find out what is going on. Oh, and who is doing the gardening at her Aunt's house while she is in the hospital.
Excited to read the next one.

Well is was a freebie Kindle a long time ago, so I can't complain...

Anyone got plans for the weekend?
How's the weather?
It's been raining, raining and more raining around here. Up a bit north there are floods but luckily nothing like that here.

Yeah I was noticing that. My short list isn't even short enough to post yet...

Sorry you didn't like it Emily :(
I'm about a third of the way through Timeless, just sad it's the last book of this series, though I did hear her next is a spinoff, titled Prudence :)

Paranormal Romance Shelf 3/6/12 ★★★★
The last of the Parasol Protectorate series, though I did hear Ms Carriger is writing a spinoff series, the first of which is titled Prudence.
Alexia and Conall have settled down in domestic bliss in London and to living in Lord Akeldama's third-best closet so they can be close to Prudence, who is now about 2 years old, when Alexia receives a summons to visit Egypt and the world's oldest living vampire.
As she is always up for a challenge and loves excitement, she immediately makes plans which include Ivy, her family and the acting troupe as camouflage for herself, Conall and Prudence.
While in Egypt they investigate the origins of the God-Breaker Plague and why it is suddenly expanding. Back in London, the Pack is in pandemonium and Professor Lyall and Biffy become an item.
Really enjoyed this series but would of liked to have seen more romance in this final instalment.

Hope you're having a good week and Miss I hope you got some sleep. LOL

I just finished , 03/08/2012, my book

I liked the previous one in the series better I suppose and I had really high expectations for this book. I was mostly disapointed in the lack of romantic development between Trent and Rachel. They become good friends though, which is fine but I'm wondering where is the author trying to take things with those two. The bad guys were really disgusting this time too, but the ending opened up a whole new can of worms. Another year to wait...*sigh*

Pretty standard for the series. A trip to Ireland at the beginning for a change of pace and then a fairly quick return to NYC to find a murderer who likes unusual weapons and somewhat public places. Nothing really stands out is this book, but it is always fun to hang out with Eve, Roarke and friends.
