Sandra | 25912 comments How's everybody going?

Had a great weekend?

message 105: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments I enjoyed being snowed in, my car was completely covered in one night. It was a pain cleaning away the snow today though. :)

message 106: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments a snow day would be fun, but unlikely here in Texas.

Doing well. About halfway through my ghosts book and not a single ghost sighting.

message 107: by Emily (new)

Emily | 109 comments I would love a snow day.. I'm near buffalo ny and we still have yet to get any real snow this year. Looking forward to our next topic.

message 108: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Well, that seems fair, we are still yet to see a summer. Oh sure, we've had a couple of days that reached 30C but not the months of it that we expect. And it keeps raining. Bummer.

Nearly finished Hunt the Moon (Cassandra Palmer, #5) by Karen Chance it's taken longer to read this one than I thought, probably because even more has happened than usual.

message 109: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments Well, I just finished my book and gave it 3 stars. I do like Cole's world and characters. This starts as a chase book and then becomes 2 against evil. Both Lucia and Garreth were great characters and she wasn't kidding when she claimed to be high maintenance. I'm very intrigued by the teaser for the next book. Full review here

Sandra | 25912 comments Ghost Shelf
Hunt the Moon (Cassandra Palmer, #5) by Karen Chance
2/15/12 ★★★★★

Loved this book. Has some huge spoilers; personal growth for all the characters, not just Cassie, and did I mention spoilers. LOL

This book really alternates between Pritkin and Mircea more so, I think, than the others did and so did my feelings. Should she stick to Mircea and then it was, should she stick to Pritkin. Both have for and against points, so much so, I can understand how she doesn't even know to ask the question, let alone have an answer.

"Pretty early on, I'd learned to distance myself from inconvenient feelings, from anything I couldn't easily handle. And by now, I was tops at the Scarlett O'Hara school of emotional distancing. I always thought about the uncomfortable stuff tomorrow, and, as everyone knows, tomorrow never comes."

I want the next book Now!

Sandra | 25912 comments Fellow Cats, just so you know I PMd Cathy 2 days ago to remind her of the shelf. To date no response, so let's hope she's OK and pops in soon.

message 113: by Emily (new)

Emily | 109 comments if she doesnt is one of us allowed to do an extra read to make up for her?

message 114: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Nope. If she leaves the game we either bring in someone else or just go with 4 players.

message 115: by Cathy (new)

Cathy Galloway | 140 comments I'm here. Had some family stuff to deal with but I've been reading even when I haven't been on-line. I read Lothaire (Immortals After Dark, #12) by Kresley Cole for my ghost book.
I give it 4 stars. I really like the way her books all overlap and fit together. I also really like the main female character here, but I had some trouble liking the male one. He was a villain in earlier books and I didn't really see him turning over a new leaf here. He was unapologetic about past behavior and didn't prove himself any better in this book. I hope as things unfold in future books, Lothaire shows himself worthy of Elizabeth.

message 116: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments *wipes sweat off brow* Thank goodness you're OK. Hope the family stuff is sorted to your satisfaction as well.

I think we were just a little nervous cause we didn't know what was happening, but its all good now :)

message 117: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments OK, that just leaves Miss .... go Miss go ....

I wanna chat about Hunt the Moon, before I forget all the good stuff. LOL

message 118: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments I'm reading my book right now Sandra. It went slow at first because I didn't remember anything of past books. There really should be a synopsis of the series as a whole at the beginning of the book.
I'm alternating between Mircea and Pritkin too but leaning toward the latter right now (slightly).
:)

message 119: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Yep, I can understand both those points. I was lucky cause I only just read #4 last month.

Emily | 109 comments I am in for Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #4) by Kresley Cole . It works out perfect that I just picked it up from the library.

message 123: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Yay, Emily, I'm re-reading that series in anticipation of Lothaire coming out in pb, in I think June, just finished A Hunger Like No Other.

message 124: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments Yay, i've been really wanting to read an In Death book lately, so i'll read Fantasy in Death (In Death, #30) by J.D. Robb for Favorite series.

:)

message 125: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments I've finished Hunt the Moon (Cassandra Palmer, #5) by Karen Chance yesterday, gave it 4.5 stars.

After a slow start (for me since i didn't remember much from previous books), the book really picks up. This is the best in the series so far, you can see that the author took her time with it and didn't rush it, though i do hope we won't be waiting two years for the next one, i really, really want to know what happens next. :D
I was actually really surprised, because i didn't remember the series being this good, this for me at the moment is better than the Night Huntress series, where i've seen a slight slip-up and maybe a bigger focus on PR than UF in the latter books.
Loved the non-stop action, the heroine, Pritkin (oh, my :D) and Mircea, the revelations and the way the story was progressing. I can't really fin a fault with it except that maybe it should have had a recap of the series at the beginning of the book, but part of that fault lies at my door too since i was a bit lazy to do my homework.
Great book, great series, and can't wait for the next one!
:)

Thanks Miss, I was wondering what I was going to read as I'm pretty much caught up on the PB versions of all my favorite series (although I never seem to catch up on this one). So I'll be reading -

Indulgence in Death (In Death, #31) by J.D. Robb

message 129: by Miss (new)

Miss | 259 comments Hey, you're one book ahead of me, way to go! :P

message 130: by Emily (new)

Emily | 109 comments I just finished reading Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #4) by Kresley Cole . I rated this a 5. I loved how the story backed up a bit so it went along with part of the book before. I loved the story and couldn't put it down. So much for getting my laundry and cleaning down today. I am really glad that I have the next in the series to read.

message 131: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (last edited Feb 20, 2012 01:04PM) (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Another good one Diane, I must admit, as I read them from the library, I haven't read them in order, but still enjoyed them immensely.

Emily, yay our first favourite series read finished. I'm on pg 129 of Tanner's Scheme (Breeds, #9) by Lora Leigh and I'm enjoying it :)

I was in the process of requesting our Ghost stamp last night when I had to turn off all our electrical stuff, including the computer, cause of a huge thunderstorm. We're prone to lightning strikes around here as it's semi-rural and we've lost stuff in the past, so better safe than sorry. So off to request our stamp :)

Sandra | 25912 comments Tanner's Scheme (Breeds, #9) by Lora Leigh
Favourite Series Shelf 2/21/12 ★★★★

(view spoiler)

Scheme is not your typical heroine. She is tough, determined, stubborn and needy. Needy because since her mother died, she has had no-one. The General has tried to train her using the same methods he did the breeds back in the labs.

Tanner, meanwhile goes through the typical is she/isn't she my mate thing. But of course, he is.

This was a very good addition to the series.

Sandra | 25912 comments Well, Black Cats, what's happening? Where is everybody?

Cathy, cathy, did you pick a book?

How are the In Deaths coming along, Diane & Miss?

message 138: by Cathy (new)

Cathy Galloway | 140 comments I read book 2 in a series I started recently and really enjoyed Fool Moon (The Dresden Files #2) by Jim Butcher . I didn't like this one as much (probably 3 1/2 stars) All the different kinds of werewolves coming into play at the same time was confusing and too coincidental. I will definitely be reading the next book soon.

message 139: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Too bad you didn't enjoy Fool Moon as much Cathy, though I heard they don't pick up till #3 or #4.

What date did you read it?

message 140: by Diane ~Firefly~ (new)

Diane ~Firefly~ | 913 comments Mine is going slowly, mostly because I've been under the weather all week. I should be able to finish it up this weekend.

message 141: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Oh no, Diane, that's not good. Hope you're feeling better real soon :(

Take your time, no one's able to get Bingo yet.
