What's Your Kindle's Name?
I decided to finally upgrade my kindle 2 by purchasing a kindle 4, and I absolutely love it. Like many others, my original kindle was simply called "John's Kindle." But this new kindle is so superior that it needs a special name. ("John's 2nd Kindle" just won't do.) So I have decided to call it "Walter Reality."
I really wish I could come up with great names for my kindles, I have an old K3, K4, Ktouch, Fire, and Kindle for my Droid Phone. They are just called Shaina's Kindle 3 etc.
Shaina, it'll come to you! I had a K1 which was never names except for Ginger's Kindle. After I got my K3, a name finally "popped" into my head, so to speak. My grandson (almost 3 yrs old) calls me Mimi. So, I named my K3 Mimi's Time :)It might sound cheesy to some, but I love it!!
Ooh, right after I posted my last comment I came up with an even better variation for my kindle's new name. Instead of "Walter Reality" I'm going with "Walter Nate Reality."
John, that is quite awesome. Reminds me of one of my old cars. General Nicholas Uissance, or Nick for short. Good old General N. Uissance.

My boyfriend's Kindle is named EXTERMINATE because we had just watched a bunch of Doctor Who before he got it.

(In the show, there are parallel universes, and since one of the main characters is named Walter, they refer to his other-universe counterpart as Walternate.)

Looks like I am getting a Kindle Fire for my birthday...Thinking of naming it "Firefly". Don't really want to use my name or a nickname or a name I try to get people to call me. Want something fun sounding!!

Holy cow, you mean you didn't name it after Walter on Fringe? LOL! I just assumed you did! What a crazy coincidence. Great minds think alike, indeed.
John wrote: "No, i haven't been following Fringe. Maybe i should try to get some type of royalty from them. Just kidding. I guess this is just ..."Haha, I guess so! That's funny. Well, now if anyone else asks you if it's named after the Fringe character you know why ;)
Rox, I like that! Hmm, reminds me I need to check out the sequel to Oryx and Crake... if I can remember what it's called.
I named my Touch Kindle "Mrs. Dalloway". I love her name. I named my iPad, (where I read my books at night in bed with the back light) "iReadalot".
My kindle is called Kindara II. The first, Kindara, suffered the great screen-scratch epidemic of 2011 and had to be returned fro a new one. I like the name because it integrates the kindle into a Fantasy world :)
My first Kindle was named Cicero after the great Roman academic and politician, it was also a nod to what my husband named his, though I can't now remember it's name. When Cicero died I got a new K3 and named it Alexandretta after the fictional city noted in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade for holding the Ark of the Covenant. I guess I'm saying books are my "ark" but either way I think the name is cool.
Sue wrote: "My Kindle is named Kindley Windley or Win for short""iReadalot" that is hilarious, love it!
After I read some of your posts and names for your kindles I had to log into my Amazon account in shame and change the name from "Nadine's 2nd Kindle" (Nadine's 1st kindle fell into a coma, it couldn't be awoken from) to something else. My first idea was Mr. Rochester (Jane Eyre), love that character... so now I can cuddle up every night with Mr. Rochester. :-)
Hmm, I should look into this - I've been calling my Kindle 'Bob', but only in conversation. As I've got a hand-made cover with the words "Don't Panic" written on the front in large, friendly letters, I guess I'm going to have to call mine "The Guide" or possibly "The Book"...
Go to Amazon.com, My Account, Manage Your Kindle, Manage Your Devices. Your various devices will be listed. Next to the name of each device is an "Edit" link in small blue letters. Click that and you can change the name.

I know someone who named theirs 'Precious' and another person named theirs 'Smut Puppy', so I've been thinking of naming my Fire 'Portal' since it's a gateway to so many worlds.
Mine have all been named after my dogs. Right now I've got
Quinndle Mark IV: GobiE-Reader
Both Quinn and Gobie are honoured.
This is funny! I love the ideea. Mine doesn't have a name. It never crossed my mind...But now I'll think about it!
I recently got an iPad3, whose name is Dragon Feathers. That's after the fabric print I chose for the iPad cover.
Helen wrote: "I like that, mine is still Helen's kindle but I'm going to change it."I think I'll change mine too.
There are some really great names here! My regular kindle has a skin of Starry Night by Van Gough so it is named Stary Night. My Kindle Fire is aptly named FIRE!!!! and my Paperwhite is named GlowWorm
Glow worm is so cute. My fire is nameless, its new. Think I need to learn how to use it before I name it. I'd like the starry night skin for it.

Thats why after see the fast refresh of the kindle 4 I decide to buy kindle touch.
But despite on the fact that I liked, I prefere kindle 4 or kindle 3 than touch.
the firmware is not an upgrade that has all the features + plus touch.
Actually is a new firmware without some features that are on kindle 3 and kindle 4, in fact I think kindle 4 has more features than touch.
For example touch, dont have landscape view, its not internationalized, only english is supported, and the primary dictionary for foreign languages is broken.
I miss this features I read a lot in spanish, and now I dont have a dictionary, or the one that used is not ok. :(
Kindle 4 is very light. I recomend the kindle 3 or kindle 4 more than touch.
This are my impresions.
By the way I call my kindle touch 'libro'
