Christy Ok, another question... I'm having a hard time finding something for the 60th parallel challenge. I have one that takes place in Moscow, is that close enough or should I keep searching??
Thanks again for reading and answering my questions.

Maude, it looks like I'm missing points as of the 31st, or I had a couple of books that didn't count but I didn't know it. Are you showing the following?

(posted Jan 18, message 98)
20.3 Read one book of GR’s Most Popular Books Published In 2010 List
Room by Emma Donoghue
Page Bonus = 4 points
HF Bonus = n/a
Task Total = 24 points

( Jan 20, message 116)
50.1 Jen C's Task- Read any book that has been nominated for or won any literary award.
The Blind Assassin by Margaret Attwood (2000 Mann Booker Prize)
Page Bonus = 6 points
HF Bonus = 1 point
Task Total = 57 points

That takes me up to 174 points as of the 31st. I've posted more since then, but I know they wouldn't be in this total.

message 204: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Hi Maude,
It seems 2 of my most recent tasks were not included in the scoreboard.

Message 188: 100 point task total 105 pts
Message 199: task 5.1 task total 7 pts

My total task points to date should be 236

Thanks :)

Maude | 732 comments I feel like the man in Alice in Wonderland who went around saying, "Oh, Dear, Oh, Dear, Oh, Dear"! I will fix now.

message 206: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Don't worry about it! I completely applaud your job at keeping the numbers!

message 207: by Maude (new)

Maude | 732 comments Djrmel and Tasha - All fixed - Points are as stated above. Sorry for the oversight.

Maude | 732 comments Was it the White Rabbit that went around saying, "Oh, Dear, Oh, Dear"? Now you can see how easy it is for me to become confused!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3122 comments yes it was the white rabbit.

Holly P (hlp0221) | 137 comments Maude-I'm tracking that I'm supposed to be at 145 and the scoreboard says 130. Did one of my posts get counted for the other Holly? (I put my last initial on my name so you can tell us apart easier).

message 214: by Maude (new)

Maude | 732 comments Holly P, Well, this is a mess since I am showing you at 249 and the other Holly at 235 (or vice versa) which is apparently not right! I have no idea what happened but will fix as soon as I pick up my grandkids from their respective schools and get back to you.

message 215: by Holly (new)

Maude, I have 296 for my total, but I just posted David Copperfield a couple of hours ago at which time I had 236 (unless I calculated wrong). What are the chances of having two Holly's?? If you want me to add my last initial to help distinguish, I'm happy to, but I'll have to figure out how to do it. So sorry.
I know I'm not going to be able to finish all the categories in the challenge anyway. I could email you my tally file if it would help. Sorry for the mixup, Holly P!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3122 comments Holly, you can change your username by editing your profile and putting the new name in your user name.

Holly P (hlp0221) | 137 comments My messages were #'s 75, 94, and 192 if that helps.

Thanks for looking into it Maude. I could never do the scorekeeper job. Numbers make my head hurt :)

No apology needed, Maude. I'm challenged by keeping track of my own points, no way could I keep up with the entire group. You're doing a great job!

Maude, I was going to change my user name to make it easier for you, but evidentally I can't because I am a goodreads author and that will change my author page.

My posts were Message 158,175,193, 198, 221, 228 and you corrected me on one point giving me a total of 295. Hope this helps.

Maude | 732 comments Holly, I gave you The Other Life, apparently in error. I am taking that off your score which will leave it at the correct 145.

message 227: by Holly (new)

Holly Weiss (hollyweiss) | 278 comments Maude wrote: "Holly, You are correct that you have a total of 303, I just added The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society."

Thank you, then our records concur. I don't know how you do it, Maude -this arithmetic. Are you a mathmetician professionally? Thank you for keeping track!

I was the one who read The Other Life, but couldn't use it because I already had another book in that category.

message 228: by Maude (new)

Maude | 732 comments Holly, thanks for the kind words but if I was a mathmetician I wouldn't be making all my mistakes!

message 229: by Emily (new)

Emily Hi, would Eaters of the Dead work for the 60 degree North challenge?
It's been on my book shelf for years and this would be a good excuse to read it.

message 230: by Maude (new)

Maude | 732 comments Emily, It looks like it takes place in northern Scandanavia which would work for the 60 degree North challenge. I would suggest that you look closely at your book to make sure it fits.

message 231: by LenaLena (last edited Feb 05, 2011 01:33PM) (new)

LenaLena (marilenalena) Hey, any chance you'll let me read Selene of Alexandria by Faith L. Justice for the 100 pt bonus task? Faith is not on the official list, but since she's posting in the group: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1... and she wrote an HF book, will she count? I have been waiting forever for Mistress of Rome to come to my library and am starting to despair that it will not get here in time!

message 232: by Emily (new)

Emily Hmmm. Might not be quite HF enough for a HF challenge since it's kinda a mix of HF and fantasy. Think I'll find something more clear.
Thx.

Yeah Marleen, that would be fine. At the time I looked through the membership list either Faith was not part of the group or I just missed her. :( Anyway, it's fine if you would like to read her book for the challenge.

Actually, from my reading of it anyways, Eaters of the Dead is not fantasy at all. The elements you're seeing as fantasy are actually a cult religion kind of thing. I've read this book a couple times now & love it (& the movie the 13th Warrior that is based on it). They are historically based and wonderful. :)

Maude | 732 comments LemonLinda, I don't have the right amount of points for you. I saw you mentioned The Art of Racing in the Rain - did you read it? I also have you down for the Secret History of the Pink Carnation but I don't see where you read it. That might be my error. I don't want to miss a day without making a mistake! Do you have your own total count you can give me? Thanks.

Emily Can I count Orchid as a color?

message 239: by Maude (new)

Maude | 732 comments Orchids have many different colors, but "Orchid" is not one of them. Sorry.

LemonLinda (lwilliamson0423) | 626 comments I am so sorry Maude. I just saw this posting where you asked for a clarification of points. I have NOT read Secret History of the Pink Carnation so they may well be where the mistake is. I have read:

10.2 East of Eden 17
20.1 People of the Book/These is My Words 30

Evelina C (evelinaguekguezian) | 42 comments I'm on my last 2 tasks(5.1 & 10.1). Finding an author's first novel is no problem except for deciding which excellent debut to read.

Ironically, it's the first task with which I'm having such difficulties. Does anyone out there have any suggestions for a co-authored HF novel that isn't Christian or Paranormal fiction??

I'd love to hear your suggestions!! Thanks!

message 242: by LemonLinda (new)

LemonLinda (lwilliamson0423) | 626 comments I searched through my shelves of books that I own but have not yet read and found one that was my mother's that I brought home and never got around to reading. I thought in light of the royal wedding that is coming up in April reading this one at this time might be nice and it happened to have two authors so I hope to get to it soon - My Story by Sarah Ferguson and Jeff Coplon.
