“…a straightforward, action-packed debut. If you enjoy stories of pulpy vengeance, then Trotter and Wolf are likely to satisfy you.” – Crime Fiction Lover

I have just (this morning) finished the First Final Draft of my latest. That means I've filled in holes, the narrative flows, I've found most basic mistakes, and I'm satisfied with it as it stands at this moment.

It also means that I'll be doing a beta read (and perhaps inflicting it on associates to do the same) and will be tweaking and deepening.

My earlier works were over ten years in the making. That is to say, I finished them, copyrighted them, sent them around and then went into a dry spell. During the time I tried to decide what to do with them I picked at them, re-edited them, deepened them... They are in good shape.

But I don't have ten years to spend on this one. Actually, it came together more quickly than the others (thank you, plotting-by-the-seat-of-my-pands) and I think it will be a year's project, since it started November 1.

It will be available in Kindle, but I'm also thinking of Smashwords (and the others), and I'll have it available in paperback, too.

Whew! I'll be missing these characters, but I am finding it easier to move on as I get more experienced.

Untreed Reads (untreedreads) | 36 comments Introducing the hard-hitting street novelette from emerging writer Logan Noblin. Out now worldwide as an ebook from Untreed Reads.

The Front of the Freeway by Logan Noblin The Front of the Freeway by Logan Noblin

What if there were no rules? What if there were no laws? Or what if your life became so routine, so mechanical – so hopeless – that you simply stopped following them? This is the question facing Julian, a 21-year-old Los Angeles dishwasher who slaves away in a kitchen with all the opportunity of a prison camp, and lives in a household as rigid and structured as the cold metal counters confining his workspace. Julian’s frustration with the suffocating structure of his life, “the blueprint and the scaffolds and the woodwork all framing my perfectly static existence,” soon drives him under the wing of a coworker, Tony, a charismatic sandwich boy with a cocaine-white smile. However, as Julian becomes more deeply invested in the workings of Tony’s drug empire, the feasibility of Tony’s anarchistic philosophies are put to the test in a series of crimes culminating in armed robbery, murder, and a multi-million dollar ruse with a Mexican drug lord. Ultimately, Julian will have to find his own way out from under his boss’s, his father’s, and his city’s control, but how far down will he have to follow Tony to get there? A novelette.

About Author Logan Noblin:

Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 284 comments My newest Epic Fable, 'Piercing the Elastic Limit' has been posted in the free Kindle Library.

As the phrase implies, Epic Fables are simply told stories holding larger, universal implications unique to the human condition.

Although classified as Science Fiction the book defies genre, being an exciting 'who done it' adventure tale that's getting good feedback for the true history included.

The 'Elastic Limit' is a technical term used in the books that deal with time distortion, as well as being a metaphor for the reader’s imagination.

If you have a Kindle, it's a free download, so enjoy & let me know what you think.

On a training trip to Hawaii, when Archie is mauled by a wave while bodysurfing, Doyle sees his duty – a purpose in life that transcends self-interest and even friendship. Howard Loring (howardloringgoodreadscom) | 284 comments Bravo Ken but what are if you are ambidextrous?

Here's the best & most creditable explanation for left handers that I've found:

While gestating, as humans form, cells are not only multipling & always dividing but also being reabsorbed & reused at a fantastic rate.

At a point, this duality stops & half of a double image is absorbed to feed the one & so it goes.

But before, we are all twins, with a primal mirror image that disappears when reasorbed & for most of humanity this results in right handers.

Left handers on the other hand, somehow dominate & it's they, the mirror image that abosorbs the primal twin.

I guess, as I'm ambidextrous I just fused halfway.

Just an idea.

Gerald Pruett | 39 comments I wrote a new novel titled ‘Conjoined Souls’. It is approximately 77,000 words. I haven’t looked to publish it yet. Before I do, I was hoping I could find someone to help proof read it for me. I can’t afford to pay anyone though.

An application for a copyright has been filed by me on this novel.

The genre: Drama; Paranormal; Crime.

The novel is written in the first person. Normally I don’t write in the first person, but I felt that this story needed to be.

Given the unknown perpetrator’s profile, I wrote the main character as being a woman, and so I might not have captured the main character as well as a woman author would.

Here’s the synopsis to the story:
Samantha (Sam) Brennan and Alexandra (Alex) McNulty were conjoined twins in a past life and identical twins separated at birth in this life. For ninety years, their souls had remained tethered to one another.

Days before Sam’s twentieth birthday (as well as Alex’s), Sam had ended up in a coma after becoming collateral damage of an attack on a Seattle judge.

Three years and a few months later, Alex—now a rookie police officer from Saint Louis, Missouri—gets lured into a home while being off duty and smothered by something that had a strange odor.

Sam wakes up from her coma while struggling to breath, and after realizing that she was safe in a Seattle hospital, she proclaims that she is Officer Alexandra McNulty of the Saint Louis Police Department.

As Sam’s adopted mother Pamela (Pam) Brennan attempts to convince Sam/Alex that she was Sam by showing her photos of Sam’s high school graduation and of Sam’s graduation party, Sam/Alex correctly figures out that she (while believing that she is Alex) and Sam were identical twins separated at birth, and then made a request for Pam to look up her Facebook page.

Once Pam became convinced that Sam/Alex was in fact Alex in Sam’s body, Pam helps Sam/Alex to get to Saint Louis so that Sam/Alex could figure out who had attacked her.

If anyone would like to help proof read, my contact information is geraldpruett@aol.com

I've now released the e-Book in ePUB format which can be viewed on most non-Kindle e-readers and Apple devices. For more information, please check my website http://www.jackscott.info/buy-an-eboo...

Mathieu Gallant (Entropiated) | 19 comments If I go back through the history of this post, I'm sure I'll find a few from a while back. Since then, my novel has changed quite a bit. It went from just being called "Outage" to being the first book in a series of at least four books (the first two are complete, the third almost and the fourth is just a twinkle in my eye). Anyway, please take the time to read my blurb and if it sounds interesting take a look at my website/amazon page.

Synopsis:

Darkness Falls is a frame novel, a story within a story. Primarily, it tells the story of one man, Robert Hendricks. We first meet him in 2179 onboard an alien star ship approaching Earth. He is the lone human on the ship and it will be the first time he sees his planet in over 150 years.

He has been away so long, in fact, that Hendricks has very little in the way of actual memories of his home. The only thing he knows for sure is that his feelings about going back are far from positive. This is a problem for his extra-terrestrial hosts, the Gulran. The Gulran have a growing interest in this sector of the galaxy and Earth is vital to their plan. With Hendricks as an ambassador the Gulrani High Arbitor, Gorak, thinks the mission has a good chance of success. Without the human’s help, he’s not so sure. In order to ensure a positive outcome – but also to help his troubled friend – Gorak hypnotizes Hendricks and, through his recollections, travels back with him to the Earth of 2026.

For Hendricks, the end begins with a total blackout of North America. It doesn't take long for him to learn that the line between order and chaos is as thin as a stream of electrons flowing down a copper wire.
