Sashana My goal is 3 books in 7 days for the readathon.

message 1255: by Anni (new)

Anni (mesmeria) I'm in for the readathon, aiming for 4 books. My time zone is GMT +2, which means the challenge is from 6PM to 6PM for me... that's perfect, because now I won't be wasting any precious time because I can't read during the morning/day on Monday. :D

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I'm in but I'm not sure why there is a goal of 1300 pages next to my name. This is my first official "I'm in" post about the RaT, lol. Anyway, I'm not setting a single goal other than to read as much as I can. I start off with good intentions, only to have my mood and last-minute plans with the family interfere. Knowing that there's a RaT coming on a certain week does help me figure out a list of books to collect in hopes of reading but that's about as much of a plan as I'm going to make. And I don't have any idea of said books as of yet, hehe.

I'm in CST.

message 1274: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm still in the RaT but I'm not doing any pages since I will be in school so, I will just be reading for fun.

Up next: Hopeless (Hopeless, #1) by Colleen Hoover or The Best Man by Kristan Higgins , I haven't decided yet.

Listening to, The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) by Richelle Mead and the narrator is amazing so far :D

Reading and over halfway through, Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout , such a riveting read! Daemon is perfect and its just so hilarious c:

What did you think of the Indigo Spell?

message 1279: by [deleted user] (new)

I am reading The Lost Years by Mary Higgins Clark . Got it for a $1 at my local library.

Sashana Nancy wrote: "Sashana wrote: "What did you think of the Indigo Spell?"

I wrote a brief review and this was it:
This was a big improvement over Bloodlines and The Golden Lily. The first two books were seriously disapponting and I was worried that Richelle Mead had lost her touch. Mead is well known for making the third book in her various series extravagant and heartbreaking. While this wasn't the best ever, it certainly did wonders for the series as a whole. Sydney wasn't nearly as boring as she usually is. In fact, she was actually entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her rebellious nature.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Book 16 complete! I just finished Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta , by Melina Marchetta. Loved it! 4 stars. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys young adult books. I recommend to anyone, but I know that not everyone likes YA so I wanted to put that sort-of disclaimer there!

16/52!

I got this book about 4 years ago, and never got past the first 10 pages or so. I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one! And all the great reviews it's gotten just add to the pain and make me feel like I HAVE to read and like it or there's something wrong with me!

On another note, approaching the halfway of A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness . I'm not loving it, but I suspect at least a part of that has to do with the Finnish translation. There's nothing wrong with it, but it just doesn't suck me into the world. Unfortunately I couldn't find the original one from my local library so I don't know if I would have the same problem with the English edition...

The problem with this book IMO is that it could be cut in half. A lot of nothing happened, but the end was good.

That's a great way to put it. My Dad's friend recently recommended it to me. When I finished it, he said, "Were you surprised when something actually happened?"

It's taken approximately 200 pages but something is happening. I'm not sure what but something. I don't know why I can't bring myself to put it down. It's like I get a prize if I read it but I feel like that prize is a really mediocre book I will regret taking forever to read.

He knew I liked paranormal books, and he said (view spoiler). I thought the recommendation was odd too, especially accompanied by the other book he wanted me to read, Life of Pi. They make an odd couple.

In regards to Discovery of Witches. I enjoyed it well enough, but parts bothered me. Especially the romance bit that is happening at about the point you are at now >.<
