OK, all done with Barsoom, so next up will be Blackdog by K.V. Johansen, a book that's been in my TBR pile for entirely too long.
Been reading all year the entire CrossGen catalog which I bought end of last year. I'm almost 200 comics into the 500+, so not finishing in 2018. Enjoyed SIGIL, some of THE NEGATION, and am currently reading THE FIRST, which has the worst art thus far, so it's a bit distracting unfortunately. I am looking forward to getting to SOJOURN and most especially BRATH. It's sad reading these now and seeing all the promise in the young comic comp while knowing they crashed and burned away within years.
Finished Blackdog on the way home from my parents' this morning (my brother was driving, I hasten to add) and started Fire & Blood.
Jack, I've had that Cook book for a bit, bought it from the man himself. Keep looking at it on the shelf; really gotta read it.
That's one that's also been on my shelf for a while, but I don't think I ever quite got around to it. Someday ...
So awesome, Jason. I would jump at the chance to meet Glen Cook!I read Tower of Fear, but don't remember anything about it. It's been at least 20 years though...
Y'all should, he's a great fellow. I've enjoyed several conversations with him at WFC and at cons in Chicago, where he almost always attends. Enjoyed dinner with him one night as well. That's how me and my mates got ourselves listed among the dead in his last book :)
Alliance Rising: The Hinder Stars I. Which is, of course, not remotely S&S, but it's pretty great nonetheless.
Currently reading a book called Drakon. It was originally writen in the Greek language and that is the edition I'm dealing with. If anyone of you is interested it was published in the English language too, in four parts. Absolutely amazing.
The Trail of Bohu
So, I am about finished with this one and I'm really into the story. So much so, that I became alarmed that the story wouldn't finish before page count ran out. I was unaware that there was a fourth book. The only place I can find it for sale is Lulu.com. I really don't want to shell out $20 for a 335 page book. Bummer.
Hit The BeachI'm a little better than half way through, and this has proven to be one hell of a bloody, violent and action-packed read. There is essentially no plot; you are dropped into the middle of a landing craft assault on a beach in the midst of a battle, and the characters a introduced one at a time as the story progresses from one action scene to another. And it works amazingly well. I have 6 more of these, and I'm sure I'll be reading them!

Man did you read my mind? Seriously toying with the idea. That's a lot for a paperback...
And the the story was left wide open. Gah!
Just wrapped up Rathen: Into Bramblewood Forest, a fun lit-RPG. Recommended for sure.

So I put Conan The Barbarian (2019-) #1 in the poll for the groupread; it's the Marvel comic reboot of Conan. Coming in 6 parts for phase 1; comes with a novellete of sorts by John C. Hocking.
Then for kicks I had to check it out, bought, and enjoyed it... review here:

Just downloaded the 2nd one: Conan The Barbarian (2019-) #2
We'll see how it develops.
I'm supposed to be reading Anthologies.... focus!

Lol, I found a 15% off code, that took $3 dollars off. It should be here sometime toward the end of the month.
Got sucked into the new Marvel Conan comic. Read #2
In short, it was good, but it was all filler... an unexpected deviation from a series pitched as being a 6 episode stand alone paperback (available July 2019).
Getting a feeling that ADHD is needed to present Conan media (cripes, remember that movie from 2011? Eh gad)

Anyhow, I bought #3 anyway.
