Second Chance Challenges discussion
Yeah! Patriots for the Super Bowl!! (Hopefully) I don't know why I've picked them as my favorites, lol. I think I just like their logo. Barb, are you a Broncos/Packers fan? Husband and I have grown into Peyton Manning fans and Saturday was a huge disappointment. We like Aaron Rodgers too and his team lost horribly as well.
Chaitra wrote: "Barb, are you a Broncos/Packers fan? Husband and I have grown into Peyton Manning fans and Saturday was a huge disappointment. LOL And if I had to choose just one favorite NFL team, it would probably be the Packers. I don't know why, I've never been to Wisconsin, let alone Green Bay, but I've always liked the team.
At least the Falcons and the Patriots won on Sunday, although I don't really expect the Falcons to win their next game.

Not usually what I read but I am so happy I did..Thank you
I felt the same way, Christie! That's not my usual type of book either, but I liked this one -- much more than I thought I would. I'm glad you did too :)
So... Should we pick our choice for the Super Bowl as well? It'll be the third time I'll have to do 49ers tasks, lol.
I haven't seen or heard from any of the group moderators here for awhile, so I'd say it'll be up to us to decide if we want to include the Super Bowl or not. If you ask me, I'd say we might as well, right?
Absolutely! I was actually trying to find a way to make it work for Pro Bowl as well, but it got too confusing. :D
well if we do the Pro Bowl it would have to be in the next few hours....We can do a task from any of the teams that have Pro Bowl members on the side we pick....So mostly any one but the Ravens and the 49ers. And only book colors are red for AFC and blue for NFC

Barbara ★ wrote: "The problem with that is the challenge ends on the 3rd. How are we going to read the books if the challenge ends the day the game is played? "I suppose we choose our team and read the books now. Or make something that we've already read fit...
@Christie, I'm game if you are! We could pick our favorite Pro Bowl-er and read his team tasks too.
Barbara ★ wrote: "The problem with that is the challenge ends on the 3rd. How are we going to read the books if the challenge ends the day the game is played?"Now that's a good question! How about if we set it up to make the team choice before the game starts (obviously LOL), but then we have ... one week? two? to read book/s for that choice and get all of our points and books (for the whole season) posted.
If you're all up for choosing for the Pro Bowl, I'll give it a go too :) I'll have to look at the rosters and see who's actually *playing ... as if that will make any difference LOL
Eh, I'm not going to bother with checking the rosters *@@* I'm going to pick the AFC for the Pro Bowl :) I'll get back to you with my book/s and my choice for the Super Bowl.
with minutes to go I pick the NFC for the Pro Bowl and the 49ers for the Super Bowl even though I am torn between the two.
I'm still holding off on picking a team for the Super Bowl. It's a *really hard choice, especially since I don't particularly care for either team!
I don't mind either of them I am just super happy the Patriots are not there...hate to say it but it is true. I also think we should add a week or two to finish up (maybe that is because I have 3 1/2 books still to read lol).
Barb wrote: "I'm still holding off on picking a team for the Super Bowl. It's a *really hard choice, especially since I don't particularly care for either team!"I know! But I don't like the Ravens more than I don't like the 49ers. :D
And I didn't pick anyone for today, because I went out. :(
Chaitra wrote: "Barb wrote: "I'm still holding off on picking a team for the Super Bowl. It's a *really hard choice, especially since I don't particularly care for either team!"I know! But I don't like the Ravens more than I don't like the 49ers. :D"
I'm with you on that one, Chaitra! I do admire Ray Lewis and his skill/talent on the field, but that's the only good thing I can think of about the Ravens :)
So have we decided to choose a winner for the Super Bowl, then give ourselves a week after the game to get everything posted? That means we'd have until February 10. As long as we all agree, I don't see why anyone would have a problem with whatever we decide :)
Superbowl pick...SUPERBOWL - Baltimore Ravens vs San Francisco 49ers

I don't like the Ravens at all, but as a Steelers fan, I don't want the 49ers to win because then they would be tied with us for the most Superbowl wins.
I took myself out of playoffs to make sure that I could actually finish the books I wanted to read for the regular season. But I may pick a Superbowl winner if that's okay with you guys
It's ok with me, Ashley :) I'm not a Steelers fan either -- much to the chagrin of my hubby and son LOL -- so I really don't care if the 49ers tie the Super Bowl win record. I'd rather see that than have the Ravens win LOL
It's okay with me too. :) I'm not a Steelers fan either. Actually this is my first season following football at all. So far, my favorites are the Packers! I was really rooting for them. I was rooting for Patriots and Peyton Manning, separate from his team (I don't care either way about Broncos), as well. All of them lost pretty badly. Hmm. Note to self, cheer for the Ravens next time. Maybe then one of my favorites will actually make it. :D
If I had to choose *one team to call a favorite, it would probably be the Packers :) And I agree about Peyton Manning; I really couldn't care less about the team, but I like to see him do well LOL
I know, right? Poor Broncos. I'm sure they're not bad, but I just can't get up any enthusiasm for them if Manning isn't playing. :D On a side note, how do you like the other Pennsylvania team? I sort of ignored their existence until I watched Silver Linings Playbook, in which every single person is a crazy Eagles fan. The movie's such a lot of fun! I'll watch out for the Eagles next year! :)
Eh, I'm not especially a fan of the Eagles either, to be honest LOL A lot of folks are going to be keeping an eye on them next season, as they fired their coach this year (after something like 15 years?). Everybody's going to be watching to see how "the new guy" does. I'm not so sure it's a coaching issue, but time will tell, right? LOL
They could luck out. :) I'm more interested to see how the Jets do. They are going to get a complete team overhaul right? I'm also keen on the Panthers. I have a soft spot for them no matter how terribly they do. :)
Well, I was raised by a couple of Browns fans, and they were my first NFL "love." They've not had much success in rebuilding the team after having to start from scratch after the owner picked the team up and moved them*, but I still can't help but hope that someday, they'll get much, much better ... and surprise everyone :) *And this is why I detest the Baltimore Ravens! At least Cleveland had the foresight to keep the team name and colors!!
My post-season choices; see message #29 and message #358 for regular season picks.

Thanks, Barb! It was fun chatting with you about football! Enjoy the game. They are having fun in NO today!!
That's what we all agreed to, Chaitra. I don't know if we decided or not, though, the deadline for *reading the books. I'm thinking anything we finish by tonight should count, but not after tonight. Thoughts?
I'm cool the deadline of tonight. I will take ages to fill up the tasks with the books read though, lol.
I'm finally done assigning books to tasks and getting all the updates posted *whew* Here's a summary of my NFL season.
TOTAL POINTS: 182, thanks to no limit on the extra points allowed :)
if I've added correctly!
I had to split my season into three posts:
Weeks 1-10
Weeks 11-17
Post-season games
Barb wrote: "I'm finally done assigning books to tasks and getting all the updates posted *whew* Here's a summary of my NFL season."Yikes. You reminded me. I will probably need a whole day to sort through the tasks and books. :D
Also, how horrid that the Ravens won. *Blech*
I wasn't thrilled either, but I was glad that it turned out to be a close game, rather than a blow-out. I don't know if the power outage had anything to do with it or not, but I'm glad the 49ers got things together and decided to play the game :)
Updated: Original PostFinished with 102 points.
I'd feel bad for not doing the play offs, but from what I can tell, most of the people didn't actually finish the regular season, so I'm good with it.
Final score 98 with 17 unanswered points...LOL I just didn't finish those three in time...Proud of the amouth I read non the less
