I haven't done Biting Cold yet. In fact I think I still have Dee's copy of Drink Deep... Maybe I shouldn't remind her that I'm a terrible person in a public forum. In any event, Biting Cold will be a get around to it.

I think you'll LOVE the Lucky Harbor books. Enjoy.

Ty | 1943 comments Just finished my first pifm this month - The Girl in the Steel Corset. It wasn't too bad. Definitely enjoyed it much more than the book it's commonly compared to - Clockwork Angel. Will probably pick up the second book at a later date. Thanks for helping me get this off my tbr, Irina!

Well, at least there was some commitment & satisfaction in this one & tied up ends before she moves on to another story! I definitely enjoyed Biting Cold more than Hard Bitten or Drink Deep. Wish I could meet her, what a cool opportunity! What is she like in person?

Thank you SO much for the picks! I am definitely going to read 666 Park Avenue. I had no idea that the new show I've seen previewed was a series of books (even though I should have guessed). I will probably read Forever this month as well. I love this author and loved the first two books so I have no idea why I haven't finished the trilogy. Me Before You sounds great, but I couldn't find a library near me that has it so I will add it to my list of books to find.

Thanks again for all the great picks!

let me look at my other reading challenges and maybe I can do a buddy ready of the Gilded Web (I just have to find it on the shelf, because I think its a print copy...)

she was really nice LA - she did a lecture on the origins of the vampire myth from all over the world - it was pretty interesting and then she signed books etc. I also got to go to lunch with her - which is when she talked more about the books

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments Emily - i'm working on your picks right now, I started but got distracted by my dog who just had surgery and wanted some attention (he howled in his cage for 3 hours last night)

message 465: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments ok Emily - here we go!!

1. Home Run - Rainshadow Road - Lisa Kleypas tops your most-read author list, so why not read one of her newer books (and bonus, the third book in the series is already out)

2. Field of Dreams - Marked - I really like this PNR series because its a different look at mythology - using the myth of Jason and the Argonauts

3. Clean Up Hitter - Ashes of Midnight - I saw you had #1-4 on your read shelf, #5 on your to-read, but with stars assigned, so I went for #6 in my recommendation...if you haven't read #5, then I would recommend it instead

4. World Series - The Sandalwood Tree- I love the cover and its set in India, which is a place I would love to visit

5. First and Goal - Too Hot To Touch - you have another book by Louisa Edwards on your shelf that you haven't read, but I've been wanted to read this one for a while (buddy read??)

6. Friday Night Lights - Daughter of Smoke and Bone - i've heard that this had been optioned for a movie - i don't know how true it is, but if it is, I can't wait to see it

7. Touchdown - Forbidden - I haven't had many 5-star reads this year, but this is one of them - it does touch on a taboo topic though

8. Super Bowl - Immortally Yours - you have lots of PNR on your shelves, and this book looks really interesting, i pre-ordered it on my kindle and haven't read yet - so buddy read maybe?

I had read the first three of this series some time ago, ran out of books published, and had not gone back to it, so thanks for the reminder. It was a fun book with manly men in kilts and strong women. Thanks for the recommendation!

This is my first challenge book this month; I hope to get to one of two more--I've got one on order and the other is not very available, but I'll keep trying.

Hi Lady Allison!

Thanks so much for the wonderful picks. I want to read them all.

I have to be in a specific mood for paranormal, so I've been saving up the newest BDB book until that mood comes around again, haha.

This month, I think I'll try the Pamela Clare Extreme Exposure book you recommended. It sounds really good, and different from what I'm used to. I just found out that the local used bookstore has a copy that I'm going to go pick up this afternoon.

You're also completely right - I haven't read enough Lisa Kleypas! I also want to read Mine Till Midnight this month. Luckily it's already on my shelf at home!

Dee, I think I'm going to go for Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #4) by Chloe Neill this month. I seem to recall hearing something about a major cliffhanger when it came out, do I need to get a hold of book 5 before I finish this one?

Hey Erin! So, here are my picks for the month:

FINISHED:
Kissin' Tell (Rough Riders, #13) by Lorelei James 9/1/12
Chasing Bliss (Nights in Bliss, Colorado, #7) by Sophie Oak 9/2/12
Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody #1) by Elizabeth Peters 9/6/12--this was great! Amelia Peabody was such a fantastic character. I loved the way her mind worked. I wasn't expecting the romance aspect of the story, but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought that Amelia reminded me of Alexia Tarabotti without the werewolves. LOL I will definitely continue with this series. Great pick!

I'm glad you enjoyed the book. Divorced Desperate and dating which is the second one was my favorite out of the series, but they all had good humor.
