I'm going to go with The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson

I want to read for the Ghosts shelf, I think it counts. All the other Patricia Briggs books are on there.

For ghost I'm going to read which I found on page 21.

Review:
I enjoyed this book much more than the first in the series so that was a plus. Near the end I felt like Briggs was rushing to finish this book, but it was comparatively shorter than other books at only 286 pages. There was a wonderful twist in the story that I was blindsided by so that was good (probably why I rated it 4 instead of 3). I wanted more moments of just Charles and Anna but I appreciated what the author shared. I think because Anna is still trying to get used to everything there weren't many intimate moments. I'm interested in what will happen next.

I could scream. I had typed a nice long review. Having just started using Chrome as my browser, I didn't realize that closing one tab would close them all (I'm sure there is a setting for this). I thought I had posted and I opened a new tab to mark the book read on the normal goodreads page, which I then closed....

I'm not going to retype my entire review. But this book was seriously creepy, and good.

Although the author never calls them "fae", whoever the things are that live under the town are clearly old-fashioned fairies. The blood-thirsty, icky kind.

The town (Gentry) puts out goodies, and even allows the blood sacrifice every 7 years, so that Gentry always has jobs, money, etc. Although they don't always get to keep all the members of their family...

I bought this book for the cover, which is as creepy as the contents. This is not your usual YA, girl meets boy, wonders why he is so different, falls in love, stupid things separate them and at the end there is either a cliff hanger or they run off into the sunset (or sunrise, if they aren't vamps.)

This story is told by the strange boy. There are very strong female characters, but no standard girl hero. The guy's sister is as close to that as it comes.

I was very impressed with the writing. The plot was not complex or original, but the characterizations were. You knew those people. The hero's best friend was really great. In fact, he was a microcosm of what a BFF should be.

That's happened to me before. It's so frustrating. That's why I type everything in word first. At least if you close that, it usually recovers most of what you wrote. Sorry that happened, but I'm glad it looks like you liked the book.

Congrats on the stamp C2C!

I am very happy to see another stamp! I was looking at the Bingo Card, and was horrified to see (of course, carefully ignoring the 17 people), that teams 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 18 all have at least one row with three (to be fair, some of them haven't even read one book in their row of three) and team 3, 9, 10, 11 and 12 have TWO rows of three.

This is the kind of terrible thing you discover when you are feeling puny and are up half the night.

We need to hang out with teams 1, 5, 6 and 13, the only ones besides us who (had we all read everything) would still have no more than 2 in any row. ;-(

I've totally noticed that too. Mr. Randomizer is not being very nice to us and it makes me sad. I'm excited that we've got almost all of our stamps though, which is more than some other teams can say. I just wish they were in a row instead of all over the board.

Review:
It haven't read a Joanne Walker book since 2007 so it took me a while to get back into the swing of things and remember who is who and what is what. That being said I loved this book though I could have done with a few less zombies. I hate zombies! I really liked the mix of Celtic mythology, Indian folklore, psychic abilities, ghosts and murder. There was lots going on and poor Joanne didn't get a minutes peace. It's no wonder her love life sucks. It's too bad, I liked Thor but I think I like Morrison better. I will definitely have to read Demon Hunts sooner rather than later or I'll be back to square one again.

I may have the fat part down, but you surely don't want me to sing. I can't carry a tune in a bucket.

Neither can I, which is funny cause everyone else in my family can. Both my dad and my brother are musicians and my mom used to sing in a band many years ago. Me....I will only sing out loud if I'm alone and the radio is way, way up.

Shelf: Ghosts

I love Chess and Terrible. I love Downside and all the freaky people who live there…including Lex, even though he’s constantly messing with Chess and trying to hurt Terrible. I love the creepiness of the world of the Church and the ghosts. Really, I guess, I just love everything about the Downside series and I can never seem to get enough of these books and this world.

In Chasing Magic, it was nice to see Chess in a non-Church situation. The entire issue with the laced drugs and the zombified Downsiders showed Chess using her Church skills for someone other than the Church. In fact, we really didn’t see much of the Church and the people there except for Elder Griffin’s wedding, which did lead to some very interesting developments for poor Chess…developments that could easily lead Chess into a deeper and darker despair.

Which brings me to, thank god for Terrible. The man is so amazing, makes me want a Terrible of my own. He loves Chess no matter what, he accepts all of her faults, of which there are a lot. Some of the most memorable moments of this book take place between Terrible and Chess and I have no doubt that I will never forget those moments and neither will anyone who reads them.

I cannot wait for the next book in the series. This series went from my DNF shelf (Stacia does such a great job creating this world that it was a little difficult to get into at first) to one of the only series that I pre-order books for. The only thing I really hope for that I haven’t seen much of yet in this series is a little growth from Chess. I don’t mind that she’s a junkie and that she hates herself, I just hope that sometime soon she really starts to see that she isn’t as worthless as she believes she is. Thankfully, there were little glimmers of that in this book, so maybe that will blossom into something in the next one.

Paris, I'm so glad you enjoyed Chasing Magic! I love that series and I really loved that book! I'm so excited for her to continue the series.

Oh my gosh, the scene on the rooftop...and the one in Bump's place...two totally different extremes, yet so amazing. I can't wait to read the next one. I really do love me some Terrible. I can't think of any other characters that are described as being big and ugly who have touched the hearts (hell and panties) of so many women.

OMG! I completely agree with you! At first I was like, really you're in love with Terrible?? But now I totally get it!

After struggling through this one, I am going to go back and give the first one 4 stars. I really liked it. This one, not so much.

It started out well, but then became bogged down in so many details that I had to force myself to slog through them. And there is no explanation as to why Matthew lets one of his friends try over and over to get someone to kill Diana, and never did anything about it. He is willing to kill his family if she gets slighted, but apparently his friends can try to have her burned as a witch, or other bad things, and that is peachy keen.

I really enjoyed the part with Matthew's father, but he is such a strong character that I wondered why he would die the way he was supposed to, in the future. The whole book took place in 15something or other, and the historian in the author took over.

I will still read the 3rd because I liked 1/2 of this book and all of book 1.

I'm going to read for the new shelf. Hopefully I'll get caught up this week with the other 2 books!

I want to like these books, but they're just kinda blah to me. I think I'm more of an Urban Fantasy girl and not really a Paranormal Romance girl. They're entertaining and I'll read them if they fulfill a challenge but I'm not in any hurry to read the rest of the series. Three stars.

I'm usually more of an Urban Fantasy girl too. Lately, I've been reading a bunch of PNR. The problem for me with PNR is that they are usually very formulaic. You pretty much know exactly what's going to happen. The arc that the story takes throughout each book is almost entirely the same. One thing I love about this series is how freaking creepy the Psy are.

And ladies guess what...it's stamp time once again.

I've been listening to them on Audio, so maybe I'm not getting the same impression as other people. I think I'll try reading the next one to see if it's better that way. The narrator is not a good fit for this story and it gets kinda boring listening to her talk. She's very monotone, drives me nuts!

I'm not a big fan of audiobooks. I listened to Storm Front by Jim Butcher and I was not as in to it as I think I should have been and that had an amazing narrator (love me some James Marsters!!). Definitely give reading them a shot. You might enjoy them more.
