Ender Wiggin (enderwigginout) | 137 comments I didn't feel strongly enough about the book this month to go.

message 302: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackpurdy) | 120 comments I may not be finished with the book by Sat, but I've read it a few times before :) Ender, feel free to come anyway if you want, just to chat or hang out. Same for anyone else who might not finish the book in time, or doesn't read it.

Do we have a place in mind?

message 303: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments I just went ahead and put flightpath. People have talked about it before it's quiet, central, and there is an outside area that usually is pretty quiet and empty. I'm open to suggestions I just picked a place that should work since it's two days away.

Miss_Tessa_Melissa | 88 comments Flightpath works for me.

message 305: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sflanagan19) | 127 comments unfortunately I can't make it this time. Hopefully next time, though! or if we do another g+ hangout sometime I should be able to participate. Have fun on Saturday!

message 306: by Stef (new)

Stef | 4 comments Woo! Just found this group. I have no idea what you're reading at the moment, but I'd love to join in with the group next month. That I hope to, SXSW is next month and I'm volunteering. And starting a new business! So, where do I go to see what book is up? And when the meet ups are?

Stef

message 307: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sflanagan19) | 127 comments Hey Stef,

Welcome to Vaginal Fantasy! If you navigate to the general Vaginal Fantasy hangout page (not just the Austin thread. Here's a link: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/6...) You can see what we're reading and all of the different discussions that are going and all that. And of course it's got links to the youtube discussions from previous months, which are fun conversations about books between Felicia Day, Bonnie Burton, Veronica Belmont, and Kiala Kazabee. I hope to see you next month!

message 308: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments If theres interest we could do a google + hangout the last weekend of the month.

message 309: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackpurdy) | 120 comments Flightpath is good for me too, see you guys at 2 PM.

message 310: by Emily (last edited Feb 17, 2013 05:54PM) (new)

Emily | 266 comments Okay here we go for next month:
This is the link for March's in-person hangout:
http://whenisgood.net/3khw8a2

There was interest in the last meet-up of getting a group together for Ren Fest in Elgin: http://www.sherwoodforestfaire.com/
It runs until March 31 Sat/Sundays. It's about a 30 minute drive east on 290.
http://whenisgood.net/4myp9m7

There was also talk of doing a VF game night. I could host in my apartment or we could reserve a table at Dragon's Lair (a local gaming shop). Games that were suggested were Munchkin or basically anything from Tabletop. I have a few games(Munchkin included), but I'm sure we'd be open to suggestions. Here is the when is good for that: http://whenisgood.net/5nx7723
I just picked the next month if that doesn't work we can try for later in March, etc.

message 311: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sflanagan19) | 127 comments I'm excited! If anyone would be interested in a G+ hangout sometime, I would be happy to host. Here's a whenisgood for that: http://whenisgood.net/27mmznx
This is a pretty good option for those of us who couldn't make it to the in-person hangout. If we do end up doing a G+ hangout, and you want to participate, make sure you send me your G+ profile link so I can add you.

message 312: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments Okay so results for Ren Fest in Elgin Sunday March 17th. I can take three people in my car. If you message me your name I'll tell you the details!
I just wanted to nail down some details for that since it's ending soon. Still waiting on some more responses for the other events, but I'm guessing everyone's schedules are still in the air.

message 313: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sflanagan19) | 127 comments cool! I'm looking forward to it. I'm gonna suggest skipping the g+ hangout this month since I only heard from one other person and we're almost into March! We'll just have to wait to see each other in person :)

message 314: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments Here the details for the March In-Person Hangout:

Sunday March 10th 4pm. I vote Apothecary for the venue. Open to suggestions though. I hope this isn't too crazy early. Pray that the books short ;)

message 315: by Ender (new)

Ender Wiggin (enderwigginout) | 137 comments I can get there by bus, so that's cool. However, Apothecary is way too pricey for me to order anything besides water though. :p

message 316: by Katie (last edited Feb 26, 2013 04:11PM) (new)

Katie (katie_jones) | 348 comments FYI Sundays at the Ren Fest are buy 1 get 1, but only at the front gate, so I suggest pairing up once you're there to get tix 50% off! I'm not sure if I'll be in town, but if so, I might love to go! My only issue is that it's St. Patty's day, which my Irish family takes very seriously...so I might be drunk at Fados downtown ;) Getting drunk at the ren faire is fine, but I can't just take the train home!

I'm hoping to be here for the in-person meet up, however I also vote against Apothecary as it's dark, pricey, and has no food options for me. What about like, Austin Java, the Steeping Room, or a food truck court like the one on Rio Grande?
How was flightpath this month?

message 317: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments Thanks for the discount. Flightpath was okay but lots of people quietly studying. If youre familiar w a place thats cool.

message 318: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments Austin java would be cool. On 12th?

message 319: by Katie (new)

Katie (katie_jones) | 348 comments Sounds good! I'm just hoping the books become available at the library by then :) I picked up DarkFever just in case, lol, and it ended up not being the alt anyway

message 320: by Ender (new)

Ender Wiggin (enderwigginout) | 137 comments Austin Java is within walking distance for me, so I have no excuse to show up if I either like or dislike the book. :)

And...wow I think I started a thing with the whole "Roarke as a Mary Sue" thing this time. :O Was I the only one that thought he was so perfect it brought on the eye rolls?

message 321: by Katie (new)

Katie (katie_jones) | 348 comments Which location of Austin Java are we talking here, Ender?

message 322: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments It's so weird we were just talking about doing this ourselves: International Tabletop day!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3m0PI...

message 323: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sflanagan19) | 127 comments So, to summarize:

The in-person hangout is going to be on Sunday, March 10th at 4pm
The location going to be Austin Java.
**However, there are multiple locations so someone needs to clarify which one we're meeting

I should be there. Looking forward to seeing you all again!

message 324: by Ender (new)

Ender Wiggin (enderwigginout) | 137 comments Emily said the one on 12th.

message 325: by Katie (new)

Katie (katie_jones) | 348 comments Errr...I'm dumb. When she said "On 12th" I was thinking the date, lol. Okay, so Austin Java on 12th/Lamar on March 10th at 4. :)

message 326: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments Yes the Austin java on 12th and Lamar theres gonna be an official invitation and I'll invite everyone. March 10th at 4pm

message 327: by Salima (new)

Salima | 12 comments Emily wrote: "Yes the Austin java on 12th and Lamar theres gonna be an official invitation and I'll invite everyone. March 10th at 4pm"

Have never commented on one of these, but wanted to say that I will try to come. I love Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Will you be discussing that one, or the one they covered in Episode 14?

message 328: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments We will discuss March's pick Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but other wise if you want to talk about previous months thats cool as well.

message 329: by Natalee (new)

Natalee (natalee_corbett) | 1 comments Hello everyone! How awesome is it that Austin has so many local group members? I wish I could make it to the meetup! I just started a book club at Wells Branch Community Library (we're still in Austin, but closer to Pflugerville) called Steamy Reads. We actually chose one of the old Vaginal Fantasy alternate picks, "Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake" by Sarah MacLean as this month's selection. We're meeting 03/06/2013 at 6pm if anyone is interested in discussing or swapping recommendations. Everyone is welcome!

message 330: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackpurdy) | 120 comments Regarding the International Table Top Day - Would anyone else be interested in hosting/attending an event in Austin? From their map, it looks like there are none in Austin yet, though they say they're still approving them.

These can be private events, so we could do our own Vaginal Fantasy Event, more private and smaller, or we could create an open event available to anyone in Austin? Any interest?

message 331: by Ender (new)

Ender Wiggin (enderwigginout) | 137 comments You might want to contact the local tabletop Meetup groups (Austin Geeks and Gamers, Boards and Brews, etc). They might already be planning something.

message 332: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackpurdy) | 120 comments Looks like there are a few as listed on the TableTopDay website (the map doesn't always work well, but from the list of events). In case anyone else is interested:

-Dragon's Lair 12pm-5pm (they're moving to a new location on Anderson Lane, FYI)
-Tribe Comics and Games on Manchaca
-Wonko's Toys and Games (RSVP via Central Texas Boardgames Meetup)
-Who's Turn is it Games on S. Lamar

I may have to work that day, but if other people are available, Austin VagFans should represent! :)

message 333: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sflanagan19) | 127 comments I won't be around on TableTopDay, unfortunately :( But I'll be there this weekend! Though I haven't even picked up the book for this month yet...

Miss_Tessa_Melissa | 88 comments I'll be there for the meet-up Sunday. Wow, I didn't realize we had so many game places in Austin. I usually pop into Great Hall games, bc it's close to my house. I'll have to make some rounds.

message 335: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments Im off that day and would be up for dragons lair.

message 336: by Jordan (new)

Jordan | 8 comments haven't finished this month's book but I'm going to try and make it to the meetup. anyone going to have an easy-to-identify item or anything? so I can save myself the embarrassment of being the giant hairy dude asking every person "ARE YOU HERE FOR VAGINAL FANTASY???"

message 337: by Katie (new)

Katie (katie_jones) | 348 comments We usually all have our kindles out. I'll probably be wearing navy blue and I'll have blue nails.

message 338: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackpurdy) | 120 comments I have short blond hair and glasses (but no kindle).

Anyone have a Vaginal Fantasy shirt they could wear?

message 339: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackpurdy) | 120 comments Also, that looks like 6 pretty much confirmed, maybe another one or two, for whoever gets there first to get a table.

message 340: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments I will be there early with a VF shirt and a purple kindle!

message 341: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments Dont forget the time change. Spring forward!

message 342: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sflanagan19) | 127 comments Hey guys, I may not be able to make it this week after all :( But I'm planning on going to the ren faire next weekend if any of you guys are still up for it!

message 343: by Ender (new)

Ender Wiggin (enderwigginout) | 137 comments Gah, I got mixed up on going forward/back, so my naughty sleeping in for the "extra" hour turned into me getting out of bed two hours late. I'm not done with the things I needed to finish before book club. Oy!

Miss_Tessa_Melissa | 88 comments On my way!

message 345: by Emily (last edited Mar 26, 2013 05:19PM) (new)

Emily | 266 comments Hangout's tonight so I figure people will check the website. Here is the link for the April hangout:
http://whenisgood.net/ewzpzb3

I vote that Austin Java was pretty good - besides the parking that is. Maybe try for the barton springs location as they have a parking garage. Any other suggestions? I hope to see you there! Plus Felicia is doing an AMA on reddit for another hour check it out.

message 346: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments Okay, got a few responses. I'll get set this thing up and put in Austin Java as it worked last time. Any other location suggestions are very welcome as we have plenty of time.

April 28th 2pm. That's a Sunday and it gives us plenty of time to read the books while also being before the hangout. :) Also if you guys want the new Dragon's Lair has plenty of space. We could book a table and play some games as well - they have a ton of games to play for free.

message 347: by Marcela (new)

Marcela Reyna | 31 comments I would love to go to dragons lair for games. I'm a bit of a noob though.

message 348: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments Marcela wrote: "I would love to go to dragons lair for games. I'm a bit of a noob though."

I am too. It wouldn't be competitive. We could even play a cooperative game. Castle Panic is pretty fun.

message 349: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackpurdy) | 120 comments I'd love to play some games! Thinking of doing this as the meeting, or as a separate meet up?

message 350: by Emily (new)

Emily | 266 comments I guess we'd have to do it as a separate meeting otherwise it'd be too difficult. Whatever you guys think. I could pick an earlier date for a games only meet-up.
