Austin, TX: The Reverse Cowgirls
Mid-month drinks sound great. I'm also up for a game night some time. If this month is the The Sharing Knife, I'll find a copy. The dino-porn did not appeal to me (that and it was a pain to get a copy).
Yes we could do drinks and games. Emerald Tavern has both! (wine/beer/coffee) Also if you guys liked guest VF panelist Jenny Lawson she has a new book and tour including Austin. http://www.bookpeople.com/event/jenny...
Emily wrote: "Yes we could do drinks and games. Emerald Tavern has both! (wine/beer/coffee) Also if you guys liked guest VF panelist Jenny Lawson she has a new book and tour including Austin. http://www.bookpeop..."I'm keen to attend that event to get a signed copy for my sister.
So this month's meetup is schedule for Sunday June 28th from 2-4pm at Genuine Joe's. I've seen a lot of people who can't make it. Let me know in the comments if you can or else we'll just try next month. :)
Hi I'm new to the group, but would love to attend July's meetup if I'm in town. Is there anything scheduled yet? (Sorry, I'm a newbie to the forums.)
No apologies necessary. We usually do the last Sunday before the hangout. (7/26) We do 2-4pm at Genuine Joes.
Oh great! Is there a separate email list for our group, or no? And I'd be up for a game night as well. :)
So Felicia will be in town signing books here is the link: http://www.bookpeople.com/event/felic...Let's get a group together!!
I'm so bummed! I'm going to my cousin's wedding out of state on the 15th so I can't go to the book signing :(But I should be there on the 26th for a meetup if that's still happening!
I've been working out of town for the last month, but I can be here for the meetup next week, and I hope I'll be able to go to the signing also! Haven't read the books, but I did read Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander 3) for the 3rd time ;) And I just picked up Storm Winds...although should I read the first one, The Wind Dancer, first, or is easy to pick up on?
You don't have to read The Wind Dancer to read Storm Winds. I didn't even really realize it was the second in a series.
What happened to the Geek Girl Brunch? Also is anyone going to the Ernie Cline book signing next week, at BookPeople?
I'll be at the Ernie Cline signing. I haven't scheduled the meet up. I'm working July 26. If you guys wanna meet we can pick another day or someone else can take the reigns.
Would you be available either Saturday afternoon or Friday night? We could just do a game night if people would be interested.
Sandra wrote: "What happened to the Geek Girl Brunch? Also is anyone going to the Ernie Cline book signing next week, at BookPeople?"The only ATX GGB officer that I know of, Mia Moore (@xoMiaMoore) said back in May that they had too much life-stuff happening to get it going. I think we need new officers, and we need to get it going ourselves. Try tweeting @geekgirlbrunch and telling them we want it! Everyone has life stuff come up every once in a while, but that's why there should be enough people to take over if one or two people are busy.
Also, I'd LOVE to get Armada and see Ernest Cline, but I'm working out of town and don't get back until late that Sat night.
Update! GGB is listening! I guess some of the officers dropped out, and some are moving out of state. If you're interested in being an officer to get the brunch rolling, email them at geekgirlbrunch@gmail.com (I just did!)
I won't be able to make it Sunday at 2, but could probably do another time/date if suggested. and I got a ticket to Felicia's book signing, yay!
If it's only me and Katie that can go to the meetup this week then maybe we should skip this month and/or reschedule. Does anyone else want to meet up this Sunday?
Katie wrote: "Update! GGB is listening! I guess some of the officers dropped out, and some are moving out of state. If you're interested in being an officer to get the brunch rolling, email them at geekgirlbrunc..."That sounds like fun! I will shoot them an email.
Is anyone going to make it? The room isn't reserved, but if there's only a small group, we can hang out in the main part of the place.
I had hoped to make it but I'm swamped with work this weekend so I'm going to have to have to miss this month. Have fun though!
So Heather, it's just the 2 of us, unless you just want to try for August... If I don't hear back, I'll just be there at 2:30
Ah, I didn't see this (I was at work). I ended up working later since I thought no one would be there. :(We should try to do a game night/afternoon/anytime this week.
Sorry we missed you, Heather! I'm out of town again until next week, so I won't be able to play games until my schedule changes, but I hope I can make it to one soon!
What about tabletop gaming this weekend? When I get my schedule I will post the date for the hangout ( I usually try last Sunday 8/23 before the online hangout). There's a Gencant tabletop event at Dragons Lair 10a-5p on Saturday.
Any chance for a meet up after the Felicia Day book signing on the 15th? Who is planning on attending the Book People event?

Is anyone free to meet at Emerald Tavern this week?
Some of you may have already signed up for Geek Girl Brunch, in which case you should have already gotten an invitation to the very first meet-up on Saturday, August 29 at 10:30am! The theme is Tabletop Gaming in the Park, and we're already getting some exciting responses to our swag requests, so I hope you can make it! As it's the first meet-up, it will be very informal at the SFC Farmer's Market downtown on Guadalupe and 4th. We're already working on some exciting things for next month, but this will be a great way to get to know each other, play some games, and grab some food! If you haven't signed-up yet, go to http://geekgirlbrunch.com/join/ so you won't miss out on our future brunches!
So I just got my schedule. The last Sunday before the next hangout is August 23 at 2pm at Genuine Joes. If that day is completely out then we could do the next Sunday.
Heather wrote: "Is anyone free to meet at Emerald Tavern this week? "Sadly, I'm not free again until the 15th (for the Felicia Day signing) because my hubby is working extra-long hours since so many of his coworkers are out on summer vacations and such. After today he's working like 9 or 10 days straight with no day off. I made him 'schedule' the signing and the Geek Girl Bunch to guarentee I can go to those without children in tow.
Heather, I hope to be free soon for gaming! At least Sun or Mon evenings, in the short run, and by next month at the latest much more often!
Emily, I can't do the 23rd, but if others can then you should go ahead and meet! Otherwise I could do the 30th.
I'm free this Sunday if you want to meet at Emerald Tavern. Anytime after 4:30 works for me.I ended up getting the 15th off from work, so I will be going to Felicia's book signing and could do something before or after if anyone is interested.
I sprained my ankle and I'm on a muscle relaxant, otherwise I could go today :( Can't drive until I stop seeing unicorns out of the corner of my eye....

Hey everyone, I am fairly new to the group. I live in the Austin area and I have already purchased my ticket for Felicia's signing. I am rather shy and could be deemed socially inept on a bad day lol
