Lauren (laurenjberman) Hey Jennifer, Steph Ann and Zina!

Happy to be on the team and for Jennifer to be captain.

Zina, I think we were together for the first Dance Party round.

I'm originally from South Africa but have lived in Israel for the past 27 years (wow, its been a long time). So my time zone is GMT+2 - it is now 14:25 PM.

In addition to being a bookaholic, I'm also addicted to television so I've seen at least one episode of all the shows (although some were not my cup of tea).

No names are coming to mind right now but I will put my thinking hat on :0)

Rosina | 1 comments Hi Lauren, Jennifer, Steph Ann.

Jennifer thank you for stepping up, this time of year is CRAZY for me. I am a tax accountant.

Woohoo Lauren yes indeedy we were together for Dance Party. Thanks to you my TBR increased and I think it is in danger of toppling over.

Steph Ann and Jennifer we were on teams too, I just cant remember which ones.

Cant wait to see what new books are in store for me this time. I love team challenges!

Did some research last night on debut dates for the shows and was going to make a list of charater names too. Might come in handy.

Team name. hmmm I like fast fourward. Only tv show I could think of was Fantastic Four. Will still ponder.

Oh Im in canada western canada. Not sure of the GMT zone.

Rosina | 1 comments From general discussion Dawn noted

There will be a "cheet sheet" posted when a show is chosen, there should be enough to make it easy to find a book in any genre. With or perferably with out Zombies

message 9: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Btw...I'm from Ohio, USA and in the Eastern Standard time zone. I'm able to be on the computer throughout a good portion of the day and into the wee hours of the night so keeping up with the stretch in time zones won't be a problem.

I've seen all the shows except for South Park (I could never get myself to watch it).

Thanks Zina for the early research!

message 10: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann Hi, everyone!

I'm in Illinois in the Central time zone. I constantly check Goodreads throughout the day when I need a break from work.

I'm perfectly happy with Jennifer being team captain, and I like the name Fast Fourward. :)

Zina, if I'm remembering right, we were on the same team for TCF's Words with Goodreads Friends challenge.

I'm really looking forward to getting started!!! :)

Thats right,,,thanks for jogging my memory....are you playing Words with Friends this round?

Steph Ann Zina wrote: "...are you playing Words with Friends this round?"

Not this time. I really wanted to, but I'm also playing SOS' Fantasyland and CCC's Bookshelf Battle, so I figured three team challenges plus planning a wedding would take up most of my time, lol. I was really close to signing up for it though. My fiance was looking at me like I was crazy when I was talking about all the challenges I was doing. :)

message 14: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 1 comments I m a challenge junkie....Im in 4 team challenges this round.....

oohhh....congrats on upcoming nuptials....when is your wedding day?

message 15: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Congratulations Steph Ann! That is wonderful.

I'm also a challenge junkie. In fact, I signed up for so many challenges last your that I became totally lost. So I've decided to cut down this year and am mainly participating in Team Challenges (3 right now) and buddy reads. It's enough.

message 16: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H I'm also participating in 3 team challenges...I LOVE reading challenges!

I just want to double check...
Me for team captain and Fast Fourward as our team name

Is that okay with everyone?

message 17: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Sounds good to me.

message 18: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann Thanks, Zina & Lauren! The big day is December 6th, which is a Friday. We just got engaged a little over a week ago and have been planning like crazy. I want to get everything figured out now so I hopefully won't be super stressed later, lol.

I love challenges too! That's why it was sooo hard for me to not sign up for Words with Friends this time around! I'll probably lurk on the team threads though just to see how this round goes (and to find books to add to my TBR list), lol.

That sounds good to me, Jennifer!

Rosina | 1 comments Was wondering can we use any of the four hosts of The Tonight Show...Steve, Johnny, Conan, or Jay for the character name and what about their sidekicksor the band leaders?

Are we just matching main character first names in the books?

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Zina wrote: "Was wondering can we use any of the four hosts of The Tonight Show...Steve, Johnny, Conan, or Jay for the character name and what about their sidekicksor the band leaders?

Ok, I'll try to answer with out giving too much away. The names accepted for each will be posted when the show is called. It is only 4-5 MAIN characters so Steve, Johnny, Conan, or Jay is along the right lines.

It may not always be just first names. One of the shows has so meny cast members it was impossible to limit it, so it is family last names.

The one help I will give is that for locations we will accept state, not just city. It would be kind of hard since I am pretty sure there Oakdale and South Park are fictional cities. (I tried to find South Park one day drove in circles for 45 minutes)

message 28: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Thanks Dawn for the sneak peak. Very funny, did you use GPS when you were looking for South Park?

message 29: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Lol! Dawn you have WAY too much time on your hands if you are driving around looking for fictional places.

message 30: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Dawn, I wanted to tell you very nice work on the typography art :)

message 31: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) LOL I did use the GPS. My husband watches the show, so by default so do I. We live in Colorado and one day decided to just head into the mountains and drive. We came accros South Park County line. So we used the GPS to see if there was really a town. According to the GPS there was a South Park, But it took us to the main town in the county which is Fairplay. I suspect it took us to the center of the county. So there is a County, just not a town.

Jennifer H Week One

Title Sequence and Shelf

message 35: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Happy reading!!

message 36: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) This is really difficult!

I have two possibilities - neither worth very much:

Spell of the Highlander (Highlander, #7) by Karen Marie Moning - 6 points for setting (Chicago).

You Can't Hide (Romantic Suspense,#5) by Karen Rose - 7 points (shelf + Setting: Chicago)

Might also get points for plot but have to read the books first.

message 37: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H This is probably one of the more difficult weeks :)

I managed to find and have access to...

A World Away by Nancy Grossman -10 points (Title + setting:Illinois)

It doen't look like it will be a bad read...yea!

message 38: by Steph Ann (new)

Steph Ann This is a difficult week! After lots of searching, I think I can get my hands on a copy of Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1) by Jim Butcher from the library.

It should be worth 9 points (shelf, cover [moon in upper lefthand corner], and setting).

I've been wanting to start this series for awhile, so I'm looking forward to reading it! :)

message 39: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Great picks Steph Ann & Lauren. Lauren just let me know what book you choose.

I think my book might actually have plot points too. It is about a young Amish girl who leaves her family to be a nanny and she goes through some life altering changes which I'm pretty sure is going to cause some family drama :)

message 40: by Lauren (last edited Mar 08, 2013 11:16AM) (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) I finished listening to Storm Front by Jim Butcher yesterday, Steph Ann. It is entertaining.

Will let you know as soon as I decide, Jennifer.

Steph Ann Lauren wrote: "I finished listening to Storm Front by Jim Butcher yesterday, Steph Ann. It is entertaining."

I was actually really hoping to be able to get a copy of the audiobook since I've heard that James Marsters does the narration, and I've loved him since he was Spike on Buffy. It's looking like I'm going to have to read the hard copy though since the library doesn't have an audio version available at the moment.

message 43: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) OK, I'm going with You Can't Hide (Romantic Suspense,#5) by Karen Rose

Probably worth 10 points

Shelf (Serial) - 1 point
Plot (psychiatrist) - 3 points this needs to be confirmed
Setting (Chicago) - 6 points

I adore Spike! I've had Storm Front in my TBR for awhile. When I get around to it I'll definitely have to listen to it :)

Doctors of any variety will work as long as they are a major part of the plot. So, your book qualifies.

message 48: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Thanks Jennifer. An added bonus is that it is a really good book. Karen Rose writes truly spectacular psychological thrillers.

message 49: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H That's great! Sometimes with this type of challenge you might have to go out of your genre comfort zone or end up with a real dud :)

message 50: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Yes, I realized that in the Dance Party challenge. I only have one rule for these challenges - it has to be a book that is already on my TBR. I can't afford to be buying too many new books and I don't have access to a library.
