Rachel-RN (rachelgoodbyeborders) | 1368 comments Done 2/18 2.5* Kissed in Paris by Juliette Sobanet
Chloe, Chloe, Chloe. Naive, stubborn, and did I already mention naive? I almost put this book down mainly because I had trouble with Chloe's character. She consistently lies to her family and her fiance. I stuck it out because I needed this book for a couple of challenges. It DOES get much better about halfway through. Chloe starts to think and finally tells the truth. There are some twists and turns that pleasantly surprised me. I would have given the book a solid 3 if not for the lying.
(Not bad for a freebie)

lying gets you every time..... hubby and I always tell our kids - there is nothing to "have to remember" if you always tell the truth - things are so much simpler!!

Review:

This is the last book of this trilogy series and I'm kinda sad that it has ended. The author did a good job with wrapping things up. I'll definitely read more from this author in the near future!

Nici (queennici102) | 697 comments i finished Queen of Shadows (Shadow World, #1) by Dianne Sylvan on 2/19 and give it five stars! I loved this book. So interesting. Loved the world and character building. Can't wait to read more. I need to check out the rest of the series. I loved the way the book went into the main characters maddness and showed how hard she worked to help herself, without making it easy or trivial.

Thoughts:

Wow! That was fun! I've heard a lot of good things about this series, and am very glad I finally got around to starting it!

Katherine "Kitty" Katt is just your average ordinary girl, who had a "hero" moment when she killed an alien super being when a seemingly domestic incident turned into a violent slaughter. The "good" aliens sweep her away, and she suddenly finds out not only is the world how she thought it was, but neither is her family.

Funny, exciting, sweet and sexy...it's a very great, can't put-it-down read (as the racoon eyes I'm sporting today can confirm...have to read just a little bit more, and all of a sudden it was 3 a.m.!) I really liked it, and picked up #2 and #3 as soon as I got some shut-eye!

Can I just say how much this author aggravates me with her cliffhangers!! That being said I enjoyed this installment. Upset that I can't get to the next one until next month. Barron's still as usual is his annoying self. Mac has to keep growing up. Really liking Dani - she just grows on me.

I'm going to have to reread this series because it has been at least 3 years since I read the first four books in this series and I need to still read book five, Shadowfever. Plus, to read the other spinoff series by Karen Marie Moning.

Take your time re-reading as this series (Mac and Barrrons story) doesn't end with Shadowfever like I thought and at this point only Iced is out. KMM continues to like the cliffhangers with Dani's book as well is what someone else told me. I'll probably wait until 3-4 of them are avail before I start.

REVIEW:

I loved this book... When we are first introduced to Miranda, she is a total wreck... After the traumatic incident that happened in her life, she is saved by David Solomon, a vampire Prime.. David teaches Miranda how to control her empathetic gifts.... Meanwhile, there are gruesome murders of humans going on. Vamps, who are against David's law of not killing humans, are on a killing rampage of not only humans , but also Vampires under David's care.

I liked how Miranda and David's relationship grew-totally believable!!! Miranda too kept improving as a character slowly throughout the book... And, I loved Faith's character...

I sure would love to read the second book..(Though I could easily guess how the book would would end, I still enjoyed this book...)

Carter and Claire meet for the first time at a frat party and fall for each other. Claire leaves the morning after without even knowing his name.
Fast forward 5 yrs and one child later then end up meeting again. Claire is determined he will remember her this time ~ even though she ran before he woke up the last time. The whole cast and crew including Gavin (her toddler) are hilarious!! I laughed so hard I had tears streaming down my face. Thank God I read this at home or I would have gotten the crazy look from people, lol This was a fun, hilarious, sexy, sarcastic book - Loved it!

REVIEW:

Okay. I loved this book... I liked it so much that I couldn't put it down...

Incarceron is a prison- a living , sentient prison. The people in Incarceron have been in it so long, that they feel there is no world outside it. The struggle for existence, in this dank, sentient prison, which keeps tabs of the people's movement, as evidenced by the Eye that watches always, has made the people inside Incarceron to be cutthroats and thieves and murderers.

Finn, a starseer of the Incarceron believes he was not born of the Incarceron but that he was born and had grown up for sometime in the Outside. Along with his Oathbrother Keiro, an old Sapient Gildes and Attia, a slave of Jormanric whom he rescues, Finn tires to escape the Incarceron .He finds a Key with an eagle etched in it, which is very similar to the eagle etched in his forearm.
Gildes believes that there is an Outside to which his legendary Hero Sapphique escaped to, and that they could also get out of Incarceron, if they follow Sapphique's ways.

Meanwhile, Claudia, the daughter of the Warden of Incarceron , along with her tutor Jared, finds a Key in her father's secret study. Soon they find that there is another key very similar to it in the Incarceron, (incidentally, this is the key with Finn) and that they can communicate with Finn through this... Claudia soon finds out that Incarceron is not the paradise that it is said to be, but rather a nightmare in itself.

Claudia realises that Finn is none other than Giles, the son of the former King, who was said to have died in an accident during childhood. Claudia had been engaged to Giles during their childhoods. After Giles' so called death, she is then engaged to the son of the queen-Casper, an arrogant and idiotic prince.

I loved the character of this book... Finn(aka Giles), Keiro, Attia, Gildes, Claudia, Jared and even the Warden, had all much depth to them. Also, the science involved is great idea, especially the cube that hung in the Warden's watch !!! (Don't want to be spoilery.. SO I'm not telling more here... )

Well, I think , thats enough said for now... Read the book for more...

Lastly, I have to admit, I liked how the author blended Steampunk and Science with a bit of fantasy elements in this book seamlessly !!!

P.S: When I tried to read what I have written here, I find that it doesn't make much sense, huh??

This was pretty good. I really liked both Dagan and Roxy. I really liked the (very different) take on mythology. I felt the ending was a bit abrupt/rushed. Also not found out- what exactly happened with Lokan, but several pieces are put in place. This is a 4 book series, so I bet everything doesn't fit until book 4 (I looked and this is Lokan's story).

Thoughts:

I really loved Riley, and am quite enjoying this spin-off series. Risa is very interesting and the people surrounding her are as well. But, RL timing, I just didn't get into it as much as I wish I could have. Good action, good pacing and tension...interesting dialog...hot action on many levels...all that was missing was my brain! Aghh! Slated for a reread when I'm less stressed, and I did IMMEDIATELY buy #3, cause I want to know what happens next...back to back soon!

Don't let my funk spoil it...this is a very good series, and one to enjoy even if you haven't read Riley Jenson...and Azriel...so intriguing!

Hoping for a blue cover next week...but also not. If it's blue, I'll keep reading, and I'm torn cause I want to go back and savor THIS book as I'm no longer a grumpy mess!
