message 560: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) We're awesome! I'm on book #13 and with the 3 day weekend of laziness coming up, I should be able to knock out a few more. Unless I decide to conquer one of my 1000 page books in which case send help ;) Keep up the great work everyone. This is so much fun!

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments @ Stephanie
Put you down as TBD. Just let me know when you've got your schedule worked out.

@ Elaine
Glad you liked Shadow and Bone! I thought it was one of the most unique fantasy YAs I'd read in a while. Signed you up for the readathon.

@ Em-Em
Hope you enjoy Pandemonium! I love that series. The third comes out soon!

@ Erica
Welcome, Erica! To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book, too. Your hobbies/interests sound so exciting! I've heard geocaching is so much fun.

I'm jealous, Stacie! I only work one weekend a month, but wouldn't you know, this is my weekend to work :(

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 705 comments I will do 4 6 hours and I will you know on the page count later

Well that's not fair! I'll read for both of us?

message 567: by Barb (new)

Barb Sounds good, Stacie, thanks :) I'll read as much as I can in my off-work hours!

message 568: by Sashana (last edited Jan 18, 2013 05:16PM) (new)

Sashana Mary/Sonia, I've decided to do two 12-hour reading periods which will take place on Sunday and Monday. I'm aiming for 500 pages and my time zone is EST.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Have I mentioned I'm on book 6 and that I'm almost 100 pages in?? I'm doing so good on my challenge! I think this group helps a lot because I become competitive with others as well as myself. I'll see that someone is on book 8 or 10 and I'll think, "Okay, gotta get my butt in gear", lol. Definitely motivational to be here.

Woo!! What did you think of it? I've been planning on reading it for a while now..

I'm done with all my mock exams so I'm finally getting back into a book now!
Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi

message 571: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (Reading is Better With Cupcakes) (imjustcupcake) | 88 comments I am slowly but surely working my way through World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks I find it pretty boring, but I refuse to give up. I can't wait to finish it so I can get to something better.

I also started Les Misérables by Victor Hugo and will slowly work on that bad boy over time.

message 572: by Lala (new)

Lala | 98 comments I also started Stormwalker (Stormwalker, #1) by Allyson James

@ Sashana
Gotcha!

@ Teresa
That's great, Teresa! I think that's what this challenge is all about. I'm finding it motivational, too! :-D

@ Stephanie
Love Les Misérables, but it definitely takes a while to get through. Good luck!

message 574: by Ellinor (new)

Ellinor (1001andmore) I wish I had the time for a readathon but I'm afraid I won't. I would need two weekends for the 4 6-hour periods and I have too many other things to do for 2 12-hour periods.

But I'll read a lot anyway. I just finished book number 13, The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson , numbers 14 and 15 are in progress.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Okay, for the Read-a-thon, I'm going with 4 six-hour periods and I guess I'll say 600 pages because I have no idea how many pages I can read in 24 hours. That's probably low but I guess we'll see.

I'm in CST.

message 580: by [deleted user] (new)

I finished book 5 City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) by Cassandra Clare Which is exciting because it means I've reached my monthly goal.

Now I'm starting The Diviners (The Diviners, #1) by Libba Bray

message 581: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I just finished my 5th book of the year: Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols . I gave it 3 stars because I didn't like the dynamics between many of the characters. Particularly Leah and Molly. I don't see how they could have been best friends.

message 582: by Auggie (new)

Auggie (auggietalk) Reeeeaaally got thrown off track there for a while. Thankfully, though, I'm back on track with the reading and I just finished my 10 book goal for January.

The 10th book was Blue Asylum by Kathy Hepinstall .

Not sure what's next. Got a huge and beautiful TBR!

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 173 comments I'm going to sign up for the Read a thon - let's say 3 8's for 1000 pages :) (I'm not sure which days yet, though - and I am central time zone)

message 592: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Good morning Team! Less than 5 days till the readathon, are you as excited as I am? Seriously, is my first readathon and I'm all up and bouncy and smiley (and looking at my shelves trying to figure it out what to read)

Anyway, here are the teams' results:

TEAM A: 354
TEAM B: 405
TEAM C: 394
TEAM D: 327

First 2 weeks Team A was leading, last week was Team C and now we have Team B. That means... is everybody's game!!!

And the team effort is absolutely amazing! The participants of our "little" team challenge have read almost 1500 books in 3 weeks... woooohooooo... way to go!!!

Happy readings

Go Team!!!

Barb Finished Nowhere to Run (KEY News #6) by Mary Jane Clark last night, and have Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody #1) by Elizabeth Peters on tap to start this afternoon. The series comes highly recommended, so I have high hopes for this book.

message 595: by Alexa (last edited Jan 21, 2013 10:07AM) (new)

Alexa | 118 comments Finished last Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) by Tahereh Mafi night :)

A bit over halfway through audiobook: The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass
Halfway through hardcover edition of Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie
And started my ebook edition of Die for Me (Revenants, #1) by Amy Plum
(will switch to the hardcover once I'm done with Matched)

I can't read more than one book of each "version" LOL, it either has to be a hardcover and ebook. Can't read more than 1 hardcover at the same time...I just can't get through the books (:

Pretty sure I will be done reading/listening to them all by Friday. That's when the Readathon starts right? :)

Loved Crocodile on the Sandbank! I have yet to continue on in the series, but I really enjoyed that first one. Hope you like it, Barb! Amelia Peabody is hysterical.

Sounds familiar :) I usually have three books going at the same time -- one audio, one print and one e-book -- although I sometimes have two e-books, one on the Nook, another on the Kindle. I keep the two e-readers in different rooms in my house, so the book I finish first is determined by which room I spend the most time in LOL

I agree with loving the Amelia Peabody books - I've read many of them more than once and picked up a bunch at a used book sale to keep around the house for those times when I need a re-read :)

Finished my 7th book Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor . I thought it was an ok book.
