Gotta think about this one.

I really didn't enjoy Wild Card. The inconsistencies in the plot drove me nuts. I think at one point he'd been away for 3, 5 or 7 years? Just my two cents though.

message 308: by Nairabell (new)

Nairabell | 634 comments I have no idea what I want to read. I have Uglies (Uglies, #1) by Scott Westerfeld Archangel's Consort (Guild Hunter, #3) by Nalini Singh Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost all to hand and they'll be a welcome change from the hefty hardbacks I've been reading lately. I think I'll pick in the morning as it's gone midnight, but I may need to change my demons book as Possess could be too heavy to read with flu :(

message 309: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Just back from my trip and I'm very exhausted.

Nairabell - flu sucks. Hope you feel better soon!

Rachel - That sounds really painful.

I'm behind on my demons shelf - I'll try to read one soon. That shelf sure is one difficult shelf for me now.

I hadn't started Midnight Riot (Peter Grant, #1) by Ben Aaronovitch but when I checked the shelves list, it's shelved under favourite-series but not under favorite-series. :( :( I'll look for one but it has to be tomorrow. I'll update once I've shortlisted.

Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, #11) by Charlaine Harris 10/28 4*
I was satisfied with this one. A bit frustrated that the Sandra Pelt storyline came back when I hoped it was over and done with. It is now. I liked Bill more and Eric less. Sookie learns more about her fae background. Looking forward to the next!

Lynn Bourke (mrsb1968) Book: Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione
Shelf: Demons
Read: 29th October 2012
Rating: ****
Review: A steamy demonic book...It was the first demon book I've read, and I enjoyed it! The development of the relationship between Eidolon and Tayla was well written, and the story involving the demons and the Aegis made the book exciting to read. Yet another series on my To Read List!!!

Sandra Pelt again? But no! At least it's finally over in this though. It's getting to be the storyline that just won't die lol. I'm quite a bit behind (think I'm up to book 8/9) so I'm not sure whether to just wait and reread everything with the last book next year.

Nairabell | 634 comments Title: Possess by Gretchen McNeil
Shelf: Demons
Date Read: Oct 29
Rating: ★★★★★
Review: This was a ton of fun. It has a great snarky lead, a cute potential romance and throws you in right at the deep end plus is full of really creepy scenes. Exorcism based things creep me out anyway (that episode of Angel with the kid freaked me the hell out) but when you add porcelain dolls *shudder*. Perfect book for Halloween time though!

message 323: by Nairabell (new)

Nairabell | 634 comments Oh - and I just started Archangel's Consort (Guild Hunter, #3) by Nalini Singh for the favourite series last night and am enjoying it so far. I'm refusing to use the weird UK cover for the image though. This is another US cover I love and shamelessly order the US editions of (because they gotta match...nothing to do with the hot guys on later covers...nope).

Vi | 943 comments Dead Beat (The Dresden Files, #7) by Jim Butcher

Book: Dead Beat by Jim Butcher
Shelf: Demons
Rating:★★★★
Date Finished: 31/Oct/12
Review: This is the 7th book and I *thought* I can get caught up with the series before the end of the November. But now I'm having second thoughts - I'm actually getting tired of Dresden dealing with stuffs that always seem to be above his level. Invariably, he ends up sooo damaged at the end of the book. This book seemed a little worse for me and I'm wondering what the next book will have. And, I've got to say - this is the 7th book and the people who managed to make it so far into the series definitely know Dresden's policy regarding women. You don't have to tell us EVERY. SINGLE. BOOK. We get it, ok?! Even though I think it's a little stupid on Dresden's side, this repeated para makes it even more annoying. Apart from that, other developments are interesting - The Wardens, Lasciel. I definitely want to read more. But to continue now or later after a break is the question.

message 326: by Nairabell (new)

Nairabell | 634 comments I really liked Proven Guilty as it develops Michael a lot more, but I can't remember if it went on about Dresden's women policy. That was one thing I do remember bugging me a few times while reading them.

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 716 comments Book: Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor
Shelf: Demons
Rating:★★★★
Date Finished: 30/Oct/12
Review: I really liked this book, original and different. The second half dragged a little for me. But over all the story was great. REALLY looking forward to the next book.

Karou isn't a normal teenager, she is talent artist, speaks multiple languages and was raised by what we call "demons". She constantly feels like there is something missing and alone. Until she meets Akiva, a handsome yet deadly angel, a solider, and enemy. As the pieces fall into place and the secrets are reviled. Can she ever really with him?

This is a story of star-crossed lovers, war, wishes and hope.

Book read: Infinity (Chronicles of Nick, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Finished: 10/31/2012
My rating: 4 stars

My review:
I love the Dark hunter series. I am glad that Nick got his own spin off serires. This story is about Nick when he is 14 and how he meets Kyrian and his world. His friend makes a zombie game and is able to make humans into Zombies. I really enjoyed it. Simi is one of fave supes. Tabitha also makes an appearance and she is late teens. I really enjoyed this book. Makes some more connections clear in the adult series.

Vi | 943 comments Oh wow! That's tempting now. I'll want to pick it up soon now.

I wanted a fluff so I decided to pick up Checkmate (A Neighbor from Hell, #3) by R.L. Mathewson but the hero is such an stalking, bullying a**hole that I just want the h to slap a restraining order on him. I'm seeing if I can get to the end of the book..

Not picked out specifically, but I have at least 1 easy to find in case it's called.

ETA - I just checked the shelf and I have all but one of the books on the first page around the house. If that shelf gets called I'll just pick whatever looks the quickest read :)

Book: Grave Mercy by R.L. LaFevers
Shelf: Favorite-Series
Rating:★★
Date Finished: 2 Nov 12
Review: I don't have anything much to say about the book. It was an ok book for me. The mythology aspect of it was interesting. The prose was good. I liked the male lead ok and I wished the female lead - Ismae would have actually attended the beauty portions of her training and actually be competent in that area. Otherwise, I don't really have any strong feelings towards the book unfortunately.

Book: Bayou Moon by Ilona Andrews

Review: I read the first book in the series ages ago but I sort of neglected to pick up the next book. I'm not exactly sure why. I really liked this book! I liked William and Cerise sooo much. The banter between them was good. The Cerise family was funny and weird which was shown perfectly by their interaction. I will be picking up the next book in the series soon especially since the fourth book is coming out later this month.

And yes, I don't understand why this is dark-fantasy. But I thank the 1 person who shelved it.
