I've been meaning to read some Lisa Kleypas books. Everyone says they are wonderful. My friend sent me a few of them so now I just need to make the time for them.
Angi, I really enjoyed Fate's Edge. The last novel in the Edge series comes out this month too so you'll be caught up just in time!
I'm looking forward to your review, Tiffanie. Partials is another book that I've had on my TBR list forever and haven't made time to read yet.

Sorry it is taking me so long to post lately. Still without a reliable computer.

Read: Lord's Fall by Thea Harrison
Shelf: 2012
Date: 11/13/2012
Pages: 305
Rating: ★★★★1/2
Awesome!! This edition of the Elder series focused back on the characters of the first book in the series, Dragos and Pia. I am going to try to do this review with the characters name omitted intentionally as not to spoil it for anyone that has not yet started this series. And if its on your list, it might be time to bump it up...
Dragos and Pia are separated for the first time since their mating which is tough enough, but throw some cranky elves in the mix that HATE Dragos and several hundred wyr that descend into NYC to compete for Dragos' team of elite sentinels and you have an adventurous story that brings this couple back to the forefront.
Several hundred wyr enter the competition for positions of sentinel including the remaining guard. This proves that they are still the baddest even though they have held these positions for thousands of years at Dragos' side. He's just a little grumpy with losing two of his guard including his first and navigating his new partnership with Pia, learning to compromise not just command. Pia opted to leave during the week long tournament because she didn't really want to witness the violence towards the guards she cares for.
Pia heads back to the Carolina's to meet with the eleven Lord to see if she can get the ban on wyr goods lifted. This is having a significant impact on Celebros, Dragos' corporation. Pia's mother was embraced by the elves when in hiding for years and that extends to Pia. Pia also has a new group of guards with her that resent having to babysit her instead of attending the NY games and also not knowing what her wyr form is. While there, an elven battle breaks out between another group of elves that has kept it self separate for hundreds of years in the Other.
When Dragos can't reach Pia in their dream spell, let's just say crazy dragon mate goes just a little nuts.... A few stories back there was an ominous prediction spoken thru the oracle, well it looks like that time may come sooner than later which brings characters back as several races join forces to bring down a threat from the gods.

Review:
Kept was a strong follow-up to Coveted. It had good action, a strong and interesting heroine, and colorful supporting characters. I liked that Natayla is working on her OCD in a believable way and that she wasn't just cured overnight. I still love her therapy group, especially Holly and Abby. I liked the romantic tension with Thorn and Nick, even though I wasn't 100% happy with how the triangle played out. I felt like the story wasn't as cohesive as it could have been though. The first part where Nat is trying to repay her father's moon debt did not follow very well into her life back home and her efforts to rejoin the pack. I still don't really like the pack or its werewolf dynamics. Overall though, this was an enjoyable read and I plan to continue with this series if future installments are released.

BOOK: Archangel's Kiss by Nalini Singh ★★★★★
DATE FINISHED: 11/13/12
Keeping it short again because I still don't have a functioning computer.
I cannot say it enough...I love all things Nalini Singh. I am never disappointed when I open one of her books.
In this book Elena goes from being at the top of her game as a seasoned Guild Hunter to a newbie in the world of angels. Luckily she has Raphael with his elite group of Seven angels to help teach and guide her. Elena is both emotionally vulnerable but still strong enough to allow herself to lean on Raphael. Raphael realizes what a gift this is and is learning to accept that no matter how powerful he is he can't force Elena to open to him.
This is another amazing book by Nalini Singh and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Sorry so slow this week ladies. It's just been one of those weeks!

Book: Blood Song by Cat Adams
Finished: Nov 13th
Stars: 3
I enjoyed this book but wow was there a lot going on. I sort of felt like there were so many different pieces going on that it just got to be very confusing. A "vanilla" girl...then a girl who can talk to ghosts... Then a bat/ abomination, then a Siren? How many super powers is she going to end up with? Lol To be fair, I did have to put this book down a lot with this crazy week so that could be part of it.
I did enjoy this story overall though. I liked Celia and the different characters... I see a love triangle coming on. And the ending is def. setting us up for something interesting. There are a TON of questions not answered which also annoyed me too.
Overall, good read and I'll be reading the next.

Shelf 2012: Partials
Completed: 11-14-12
5 Stars
Humans are a dying race. No baby has been born immune to the plague that ravaged the population during the end of the war with the Partials, engineered beings that look at us, but are stronger and faster. Created to fight for us, ended up fighting against us.
I really liked this book. I felt immersed in the world the author created and could see both side of the pro and con of the mandatory pregnancy laws. It made me wonder what side would I really choose.
The main character Kira was very likable. But I did see the ending coming and was a little disappointed, but over all a great book.

Book: Tempt Me at Twilight by Lisa Kleypas
Shelf: 2012
Finished: Nov 16th
4 Stars
An enjoyable addition to the series and while Harry and Poppy are an endearing couple, it is the scenes between Leo and Cat that really engaged me.
Harry is a difficult character to like. He is ruthless and manipulative but also uncompromising in his honesty and forthrightness. At some point, it becomes impossible not to sympathize with him given his tortured past and tireless efforts to love and be loved. While his behavior with regard to Poppy's beau is unconscionable, one cannot help but accept that Michael is weak and spineless, and that Poppy is better off without him. Moreover, Harry's willingness to accept her for who she is and do anything to keep her is very compelling.
Poppy is a sweet heroine but is somewhat bland as compared to the other Hathaway siblings. Nevertheless, she is intelligent and charming, and her relationship with the Rutledge hotel staff is lovely, They are wonderful secondary characters and their matchmaking efforts are one of the highlights of the story.
Harry and Poppy's tug-of-war romance is entertaining and although they have definite chemistry, it is not as tangible as that of Win and Kev in Seduce Me at Sunrise.
The small suspense plot is somewhat contrived although it does add to solidifying the romance between Harry and Poppy.
The setup for Cat and Leo's book is fantastic and their scenes together are so irresistible that I'm going to read the next book immediately rather than waiting between installments as I usually do.

Trying to finish up the second book in Keri Arthur's Ripple Creek werewolf series that was finally re-released in the US this year. It's pre-Riley Jensen, but liking it...
Anyone reading anything else good this week? Anyone squeezing in Breaking Dawn 2?

For the next shelf,I'll read

Unless my books come soon then I'll read

Book: Colorado Dawn by Kaki Warner 4 stars
Finished: 11/17/12
Kaki Warner is becoming one of my fav authors. She writes with humir, grit and attention to detail. All of this comes together to make up an entertaining, vibrant and emotionally gripping story. I also love it when an author adds humor to the story and Kaki Warner always manages to make me laugh.

Dragon Actually
My husband bought me the whole series for my birthday and I've been waiting for shelf to call that had the 1st book listed.

Ya for team 10. Sad for us, our card was looking pretty full. I was kind of thinking we had a good chance at a possibly win.

Read: Delicate Freakn' Flower by Eve Langlais
Shelf: Shifter
Date: 11/19/2012
Pages: 255
Rating: ★★★1/2
Naomi is the only female wolf shifter besides her mamma in a large pack of alpha brothers and father and the last thing she wants is a mate. She is longing for a normal life and disgusted with the rowdy ways of male shifters that she is determined to settle for a human. Of course along comes not one, but two hunky Lacrosse players that are her mates as fate gets her good. Ethan a huge Kodak bear shifter and Javier a sexy jaguar both feel the pull, luckily they have shared before so now they just need to convince Naomi to give them a chance. When Naomi is threatened they must hold their tempers in check to prove to her that they respect her while finding away to protect her. Very cute story with lots of steamy lovin'...

Book: Fates Edge
Finished: Nov 19th
I really enjoyed this one. I loved that we are learning more about characters from previous books and they are even taking main roles. Fantastic. In the previous book Kalder was one of my favorite characters and I wanted to see more- I got it :-) loved the chemistry between him and Audrey. I also loved Audrey... She doesn't take crap from him. One of my fav ones :-)

Book: Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh
Shelf: Shifters
Finished: Nov 23rd
4 Stars
Note: It appears that Tangle of Need is a transition book - while some of the older storylines get closure, others continue to develop and new ones are introduced.
The highlight of the book are the updates to two of my favorite couples in the series, Hawke and Sienna & Mercy and Riley. These are engaging and solidify my appreciation for Singh's characterization.
That said, the primary romance between Riaz and Adria is disappointing. They are a sweet couple but the development of their relationship is predictable. Moreover, they are very minor characters in the series up to this point, which makes it difficult to feel any emotional attachment to them or care one way or they other whether they work out their issues.
As always, the continuation of the Psy conspiracy/civil war plot line is intriguing and more information is provided on some of the secondary characters, particularly the Arrow, Vasic, who has excellent potential as a tortured hero (yum, yum). The small cliffhanger surrounding Kaleb Krychek is compelling and I look forward to finding out what will happen next.
