Not sure what I want to read for Dark fantasy...maybe , or . Really, I don't know yet.

Lots of great books on that shelf. It's a tough decision. I happened to have Angels' Blood on hand.

Well, I started this late last night and then stayed up all night finishing it. I couldn't put it down. I really needed to know how it all ended. I will say that there was a reason for the whole thunderbird storyline in the last book (and it was the reason I was hoping for). So Shift wasn't nearly as pointless as it seemed. There was lots of fighting and deaths (view spoiler)[including an unsurprising one given the name of the book (Faythe's dad) (hide spoiler)]. The allies that the South Central Pride have been collecting and the, not necessarily allies, but just people/weres that they treated with respect, through the series all banded together to help out our beleaguered heroes in the end. The end is my major complaint though. It was very abrupt. This is a big-ish book (472 pages), especially compared to the rest of the series. So for as long as the book was you would expect a more complete story. But there was too much sitting around and not enough action. Too much love-triangle angst (just choose one already Miss FaytheWaffle; everyone knows who she's gonna choose between Jace and Marc, so why drag it out till nearly the last page?) All that angsty-ness could have been spent in a more satisfying final battle and a more complete ending.

I have read 'The Name Of The Wind' and really enjoyed it :) haven't read the other so I can't comment on those. Im off to have a look at the shelf now and see what I fancy reading this week.

Oh my gosh this is one of my all time favorites! I should read it again! "We float......." So scary!

So I started both and , the first in audio so it's more a question of which one I can finish first...and review. I have quite a few things on my plate right now so it may take a few days one way or the other.

The world of the Guild Hunters is definitely dark. Angels create vampires who must serve them for a certain period of time, and when vamps go rogue the Guild Hunters are hired to capture them. Elena is a Guild Hunter hired by the archangel Raphael to find another archangel who has gone crazy and left a trail of gruesome murders. I liked how this was set in Manhattan and how the humans in the story were aware of the supernatural beings. Would have been interesting to have more of that. I didn't really like Raphael or Elena very much and I didn't buy the romance. Angel and human? I don't know...just didn't work for me. Throughout the book we are given glimpses of a horrific event in Elena's past, but it was never fully explained so I felt a little letdown. Maybe in the future books? I may read the next one at some point but I'm not in a hurry.

Sandy, Elena's history is revealed as the series progresses. It becomes part of the story, so it makes sense how Nalini has done it.

Review: It took me a long time to even begin this book because it’s has more pages than I would normally go for. This one is around 700 pages and I was fortunate to find the audiobook at the library too. It is a rare book when you can’t put it down and your life stops because of it. It came to the point that I was reading the book and when I could not, listening to the audiobook, because I could not bear to have real life intrude. If it’s not the mark of a good book I don’t know what is.

The way the book was separated was clever in the sense that Kvothe would tell his life story to the Chronicler. The story narrative would go back and forth between the inn and Kvothe’s life. Whenever there was an interruption, I was waiting with bathed breath to know more. Kvothe takes you along for the ride on his epic story, from the hopes and fancies of a young boy to numerous tragedies. I have read few dark fantasy books but this one is a keeper.

Kvothe will tell his story in three days and the Name of the Wind is account of the first day. I am fortunate enough that the second book is already published because otherwise it would be pure torture to wait for the rest of the story.

Review: This book was an interesting take on demons/angels etc. I really liked the fact that Lilith (who is almost always the bad guy in things) was still a demon but wasn't the bad guy. The plot did have some holes in it that I wish the author would have gone through and explained a little more, and the ending seemed a bit rushed to me as well. However this book was a lot better than I expected it to be. Pleasant surprise :)

Review: This is the second book I read from this author. The first one was ok for me but with the astounding number of raving reviews for On Dublin Street...how could I not try it? It also helped that Samantha Young tried her hand at adult fiction.

I was not taken by Joss's story very much. It is hard to pass judgment on what a young teen would become after suffering the trauma that she did but I was expecting a more mature individual. The main character has suffered in the past but took herself in hand, moved on and took care of herself as soon as she could. I fail to reconcile this picture with the emotional disconnected person falling for a serial-dater like Braden.

I still gave it 3 stars because even if the main couple had a lot of drama going, the sexually-charged relationship was hot. It made for pleasurable interlude of never-ending denial rant and self flagellation. It was just a bit too thick for my taste but could be right your alley.

Hilarious!! I love this series of books, I can't believe it has taken me so long to get around to reading them!

Janet Evanovich, has some sense of humour, after watching the first book which was made into a film earlier this year I had to find out what happened in the rest of the series.

Working as a bail bond collector for her cousin Vinnie, Stephanie is searching for awaitress Maxine Nowicki who has left a trail of theft and murder behind her. Once again Stephanie gets herself into trouble by just breathing!

There are so many fabulous moments and characters in this book, the author has a way of dragging you in and keeping you hooked. This book my favourite so far was left on cliff hanger when Stephanie has to move in with Morelli....who for those of you who haven't read the books she has been in love with forever!! I can't wait for book 5 :)

Yeah, I never use the app because it rarely show covers and such. It's getting better but I don't trust it yet.

I am gutted! will be using the laptop from now on :(

I hate to say it but I was really disapointed with this book. I read the previous books in the Hex Hall trilogy and absolutely loved them and couldn't wait for this installment. I don't know if it is because I had to wait so long for this book to be published or because I have read better things since but the story just didn't grab me the same this time around.

I love the world Rachel Hawkins has created and all the characters in it especially Archer :) she has a sharp tounge at times and I found all the books extremely witty, this one had maybe a little too much sarcasm bordering on annoying. But for me nothing suprising seemed to happen, just wasn't what I have come to expect from her and especially being the last book in a trilogy?

I don't want to give away too much about the story for those of you who are yet to read the series. But I will say there was alot of action and some very reveling information which we have been waiting to find out from the other books(although alot of it was obvious) but the ending seems all to convinient and a little far fetched even for this genre.

All in all I would probably recommend the series, for Hex Hall alone because the book was refreshingly humourous and very witty it had me laughing out loud often. I am just dissapointed I didn't get the brilliant final book I was expecting, I thought I would be blown away :(

Oh what I can I say about this book I love it! It has to be one of my favourites of all time you can always count on Stephen King to get your imagination going overtime.

I am sure most of you are fmiliar with the story as it was made in to a film in the 80's I think. I remember watching it when I was about 13 and had never been so scared in all my life....it still scares me now 18 years on, but fascinates me at the same time.

Firsly I must say because the book is so long I decided to listen instead of reading by audio book. I was slightly worried as to what the narrator would be like, as I can be put off a book very easily if I don't like the readers voice or pronunciation. My version was read by Steven Webber who I have to say was brilliant, he put so much emotion into his voice and played the part of Pennywise so well I shivered a few times ;S

The book takes place is Derry, Maine and I suppose is a coming of age story. It all starts with a phone call, calling each person back to a pact they made 28 years ago.

One summer in Derry seven teenagers meet, due to not being popular, bullied by their parents, and other pupils they form what becomes the looser club. Automatically you warm to them, as everyone knows kids are cruel and you find yourself rooting for them to survive and better the bullies.

Children start disappearing in Derry including one of the group Ritchie, brothers Georgie.....* shivers thinking of the line 'Hiya Georgie' ;S I so know why I have a fear of clowns!

The group come face to face with evil in the form of 'Pennywise' the Clown, I am not actually sure what type of monster he is?! I think that is the thing that scared me most of all, he could shapeshift and used each of their nightmares against them! However they defeat him only to face him again years later.

On receiving the phone call from Mike, a member of the group who decided to stay in Maine and keep an eye on the town. The group who are now adults and all facing their own adversities in life, are taken back to being scared children again and have to come face to face with Pennywise.

Brilliant! The story never fails to satisfy me and scare the s**t out of me at the same time.

Lisa Kleypas' books are the literary equivalent of comfort food. This author has never disappointed me. Her stories suck you in and keep you engaged, rooting for the good guys and wishing destruction upon the bad guys. Haven Travis is a Texas heiress who marries against her family's wishes and becomes disinherited. Her husband turns out to be abusive, so she ends the marriage and starts a new life back under the family fold. She becomes involved with Hardy Cates, whose past actions have made enemies of the Travises, and they fear that Hardy is using her to somehow get back at them. This is by no means a perfect novel, but it's a feel-good read. It seemed odd that the well-educated and feminist Haven would allow herself to be treated so poorly by husband #1. The first person point of view has its flaws...It would have been nice to also have Hardy's POV (but then I suppose we wouldn't have to keep guessing at his motives).

As a native Texan, I really enjoyed the descriptions of the places and people (of course many were stereotyped) but I must say it made me homesick at times!

I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I haven't actually read any of the Lords of the Underworld books, but I was recommended this book and it was available at the library so I decided to try it anyway. While it was good I kind of wish I had read the other series first because I think some of the little inside jokes would make more sense.

I really liked the character of Zacharel and his interactions with Annabelle actually had me laughing in several places, they were a very cute couple. I also enjoyed the scenes with the Lords of the Underworld in them, so I suppose I will be tackling that series soon. And I'm now impatiently waiting for the next book to get Koldo's story!

We are almost ready to get our Favorite Series stamp, but just a couple of things:

This book follows the story of Echo Emerson, who goes from being Miss Popular to a freak over night. Nobody knows what happened to her, not even Echo can remember all the details, but she wakes up with scars covering her arms.

All she wants is a normal life and is struggling to cope with trying to remember what happened, and keeping up appearances at school and at home, not to mention trying to get over the death of her brother who was killed in active duty.
When she is pushed together with Noah Hutchins, the school bad boy who has his own problems going on nothing is going to be the same again....they just can seem to stay away from each other.

I don't actually know what I thought about this book, it was pretty intense in places and dark. I found myself chuckling in certain places and then even crying towards the end of the book. It was a pretty quick read but not because I couldn't wait to see what happened it just seemed to flow well.

The books switched between both characters and you were always aware of how each of them felt, from the beginning it was obvious how they felt about each other without them have to repeat the words 'I Love You' on every page...however it isn't a book that made me catch my breath and feel amazing or question things around me just because I had read it (if you know what I mean).

City of Bones trailer. The movie looks better than the book....I *heart* Jonathan Rhys Meyers. :-)

Review: I really liked this book. I've consistently liked dystopian fiction, and the added psychic warfare added into this novel was extremely fascinating. I read the book in a day because I couldn't put it down.

The premise is that teenagers have undergone gene therapy to develop psychic powers to evoke fear and panic in people. The idea being that if there is a war/riot/protest/etc they could be dropped in the area and safely disperse a crowd non-lethaly. However, as with all ideas with such potential someone inevitably wants to make profit on the idea and tries to turn these kids into weapons to sell off to the highest bidder. The problem? the kids aren't actually OK with this and decide to stop it. Overall I liked the characters and cannot wait for the sequel to this debut novel by Dan Krokos.

Vampires: I'm currently reading and should have it done soon. I haven't found a dark fantasy novel yet though.
