Kathleen Shaputis is well experienced in the headline lifestyles of the baby boomer generation. Struck by Meniere's Disease, her writing time has been limited but the muse continues to nudge. She writes romantic comedies, nonfiction and has a ghostwriter on a dozen books.

After years of presenting at various writers conferences and community colleges on writing, marketing, book printing and self-publishing, she's had to give up these wonderful events, as well as ghostwriting, due to the disease as well.

She lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her husband, Bob, two pompous Pomeranians, a socially inept blue tick hound and a clowder of cats. ...more

Nothing seems more stressful than having to pare down a novel into a page or two synopsis, or worse yet a back cover blurb. As an author of romantic comedies, my characters and story lines tend to run in the hundreds of pages per book, with plots and subplots carved into the running chapters.

Loved this book and am grateful there is a sequel! What an eccentric band of children in a peculiar house on a tiny island surrounded by Cerulean waters and white sand. A wonderful escape into fantasy.

Short but Delightful I am not one to usually read a novella, but these bits of dating life among the short 86 pages were most fun. And to find that the chapters were first shared among her readers, goes to show Ms. Kingsley is a devoted author.

I bought the 2026 re-released edition and loved this detailed journey of Desi's memoir. The first edition of the book is out of print, so grateful his daughter and granddaughter were able to bring his story and talent back to the spotlight. ...more
