Kelly (and the Book Boar) Sorry this was a flop for you. I liked it more, but you are so right that it doesn't even compare to her last release. It's also like the third "in my dreams" story I've read recently so that probably didn't help matters.

Katie T Again, I always love your reviews. I really appreciate that you don't worship everything you read haha! "I could not care less" lol

message 3: by Jenna (new)

Jenna ❤ ❀ ❤ Better luck with your next one, Jan; good thing you didn't force yourself to read the entire book.

message 4: by Richard (new)

Richard Oh well ....... your next will be amazing!! :)

message 5: by JanB (new)

JanB @kelly, I’m just a curmudgeon! So funny reading the blurb and feeling the exact opposite!

message 6: by JanB (new)

JanB @Katie, thank you! I try to not be a Negative Nellie but I do know what I like and don’t. Good to know it’s appreciated :)

message 7: by JanB (new)

JanB @Jenna, thanks! I came close to thinking about finishing since I’d read so much then I came to my senses! Lol

message 8: by JanB (new)

JanB @Richard, thanks, I hope so! 🤞

message 10: by JanB (new)

JanB @Julie, thank you!

message 11: by Lindsay L (new)

Lindsay L Thanks for your honesty Jan! You make me laugh! I’ll definitely skip this one. Hope your next book is excellent!

message 12: by Peter (new)

Peter We all get books like that and I agree no point in continuing. Thanks for the heads up, Jan. :):)

message 13: by Mary Beth (new)

Mary Beth Sorry this one was not for you, Jan! Hope you love your next one.

message 14: by Yun (new)

Yun Lol, Jan! Good on you for not reading all the way through a book you didn't much care for.

message 15: by Brandice (new)

Brandice I enjoyed Silver’s last book but just haven’t felt drawn to this one. Your review helps me confirm I’m making the right call, Jan ;) Hope you do love your next book though!

message 16: by Sandra (new)

Sandra I enjoyed One Day in December too! Shame this one was not as good. I’m rubbish at giving up on a book ... so well done in deciding to do that !

message 17: by Kelli (new)

Kelli I’m impressed you got so far in the book. Hope your next is much better.

message 18: by Tammy (new)

Tammy I’m with you, Jan. When I begin skimming and skipping, it’s time to put it down

message 19: by JanB (new)

JanB @lindsay, lol, thanks! I hope so too! 😊

message 20: by JanB (new)

JanB @Peter, I seem to be getting more than my fair share of them lately 😝

message 21: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Oh boy!! Thanks for the heads up.

message 22: by JanB (new)

JanB @Mary Beth, thanks!

message 23: by JanB (new)

JanB @Yun, my only regret is not giving up sooner! Lol

message 24: by Erin (new)

Erin That's a bummer, Jan! Hope you're next read is better.

message 25: by JanB (new)

JanB @Brandice, your instincts were right! I need to hone mine better :)

message 26: by JanB (new)

JanB @Sandra, I used to be the same but no more! Life truly is too short :)

message 27: by JanB (new)

JanB @Kelli, I was a captive audience on a plane and I do hang in there a bit longer when it’s a review book. Which in this case was a mistake :(

message 28: by JanB (new)

JanB @Tammy, fighting the urge to skim is always my first hint 😉

message 29: by JanB (new)

JanB @Andrea, you’re welcome but if you have it you read perhaps you’ll love it! I’m so often here outlier ;)

message 30: by JanB (new)

JanB @Erin, thank you!

Jayme C (Brunetteslikebookstoo) Wonder what side of the fence I will end up on! I recently rated a romance that was getting all 5 star reviews a weak 3 stars, so.....🤔

message 32: by JanB (new)

JanB @Jayme, if only we could predict ahead of time, right? I hope you love it and I’ll be watching for your thoughts!

Suzy (on hiatus for awhile) Well, I’m glad I skipped this one. I loved her last one too. Life’s too short to read boring books Jan! 😊

Meredith (Trying to catch up!) I was hesitant to read this, Jan, and your review confirms my initial feeling. I hope your next book is much more enjoyable!

message 35: by TarHeelReader (new)

TarHeelReader I hope you love your next one, Jan!

message 36: by JanB (new)

JanB @Suzy, thank you. I wish I had done the same :( I feel the sane way. Life is definitely too short and even if it’s not for me, there is a market for every book :)

message 37: by JanB (new)

JanB @Meredith, very good choice. I hope to get better at discerning books that are right for me!

message 38: by JanB (new)

JanB @Jennifer, thanks, I hope so too :)

message 39: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Smith You definitely did the right thing, Jan. If it’s not working move on, there’s plenty more books out there. I hope your next 📖 is a good one!

message 40: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Yay for ditching a loser! Hope your next is a knockout!

message 41: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Thanks for the good laugh this morning Jan! Loved this honest review.

message 42: by Holly (new)

Holly B I also enjoyed the last book, but decided to skip this one (maybe a good decision!)

message 43: by Theresa (new)

Theresa Alan Ha ha. Thanks for the warning!

message 44: by Dana (new)

Dana Oh, dear! Thanks for your honest review.

Dorie - Cats&Books :) great honest review, I have also given myself more permission to not finish books that I'm bored with, find mediocre or are just plain bad!

message 46: by Deanna (new)

Deanna sorry, it didn't work out, Jan. I hope you love your next read :)

Kim ~ It’s All About the Thrill Ohhh no! I really want to read this and just got it. Sorry it wasn't better for you!

message 48: by JanB (new)

JanB @Andrew, thanks! My goal is to figure it out before 53% 😉

message 49: by JanB (new)

JanB @Debbie, thanks :)

@Nancy, thank you, I often feel like a curmudgeon so I appreciate that! 😊

@Holly, I wish I had done the same 😉

@Theresa Allen, you’re welcome! But remember I’m the curmudgeonly outlier 😉

@Dana, I was so disappointed! :(

@Dorie, that’s a very good permission to give ourselves! Life is truly too short.

@Deanna, thank you!

@Kim, oh no, I’m sorry. I wish I had liked it better but many did, so hopefully you will too:)

message 50: by Paige (new)

Paige Gosh surprised you made it to 53!
