Something about this book is giving me sucky vibes.
As usual, such thoughtful … uh … thoughts! Really helped me further solidify my own thoughts about things, including the romance arcs. I totally agree about the skeeviness caused by unequal power dynamics and the way at least one character in each pairing was not developed very fully.
You hit it on the head when you say the book is too short to do justice to most of its motifs. It could easily have been longer, which wouldn’t have guaranteed a better result but at least given Newitz more breathing room.
