Shawn How is the novel so far?

message 2: by Nick (new)

Nick Borrelli I just can't get into Scalzi. Some of his stuff is really good and others have been duds for me. I just wish he was more consistent.

message 3: by Leo Elien (new)

Leo Elien Awesome dude

message 4: by Leo Elien (new)

Leo Elien How is that novel so far

[Name Redacted] Oh goodie. More didactic fiction. XD

message 6: by Stacy (new)

Stacy Thanks, Wil! In a week or so you'll be reading this one to me! ;) In all seriousness, I always look forward to Scalzi's new books, and I can't wait to download this audiobook. :)

message 7: by Edgar (new)

Edgar Quinones Gordie. This is really you?

message 8: by Arek (new)

Arek K Must be not really good if author sends his frieds to give "five star" review... :)

message 9: by Marty (new)

Marty Fried So, would you recommend the audiobook? It has the same narrator as Ready Player One, who I thought was pretty good. ;-)

message 10: by Timo (new)

Timo Toivonen If this is even close to Old Man's War, it going to be wonderful. I'll dig into the audiobook in a few weeks. Looking forward to heard Wil's voice for the first time too.

message 11: by Vishal (new)

Vishal Does anyone know when the next book comes?

Erin LOVED your narration.

message 13: by Alex (new)

Alex Norton A third of the way through and enjoying both book and your narration.

message 14: by Diane (new)

Diane Cusimano thanks for the narration, well done as always. made the book even better.

message 15: by Clint (new)

Clint Finished the book today. Was not sure about it at the start, but once things started to pick up, I really enjoyed it. Would like to hear the audio book version.

message 16: by Debi (last edited Apr 07, 2017 03:43AM) (new)

Debi "As easy to read?" I was just going to post something about "You should listen to the audio book!" The best narrator ever isn't suppose to be posting reviews of the books he narrates!!!

message 17: by Elana (new)

Elana Your reading of this book was outstanding, I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook :)

message 18: by Amy (new)

Amy Wil your narration was awesome! All the voices were spot-on. Can't wait for the next one!

message 19: by LMW (new)

LMW I like the disclosure. It indicates some bias, but since it is out in the open, it is OK. I will give the book a try.

message 20: by Adele (new)

Adele loved the narrative!

message 21: by Sean (new)

Sean I loved this book! However. I read on Kindle without displaying the pages so I can't try and predict the flow of the narrative. When I got to the last sentence and flipped the page and it was the acknowledgements I yelled out in frustration, startling my wife awake. I got in a lot of trouble man! The next book better already be written! I mean, well done and also curse you!

message 22: by LMW (new)

LMW OK, I read it! It was good! When is the next?

message 23: by Malia (new)

Malia Illing Hatley Great book -- made even better by a fantastic narration!

message 24: by Dave (new)

Dave Chesson Fan girling here, but seriously dude, you're my all time favorite narrator. LOVED your reading of Ready Player One and Armada!

message 25: by Ra (new)

Ra Mi Dear Will, prepare butt for smoke intake; I'm blown away by your ability narrate!
p.s. for a while I thought Ghreni was a different narrator!

message 26: by Ra (new)

Ra Mi Damn auto correct, Wil not Will

message 27: by Yossi (new)

Yossi Gofman Greater reading!!!

message 28: by Mark (new)

Mark Wil, It's rediculous how perfect you are for reading Scalzi books. Also, I think he adds the F-bomb generously throughout his books simply because he knows you'll narrate and you love saying it with great ennunciation. A gift for you perhaps.

whatever the case, please never stop narrating great stories from John Scalzi.

message 29: by David (new)

David Proctor Will Wheaton performed the audiobook and did a great job

message 30: by Marina (new)

Marina Thanks for the review, having read the book I quite agree with it. Since you're very good friends with the author, can you get him to write the second one soon??? ^_^ I really really really want to read it.

message 31: by Aika (new)

Aika Artemisia Listening to your performance now and I have to say I love it. I never knew how satisfying hearing you spout expletives as Kiva would be but it is clearly something I needed in my life! Absolutely exceptional performance for a thoroughly engrossing book. <3 I know I'm just a rando on the internet but as I was listening I really wanted to extend my compliments to you for your rendition, it really made the book for me.

message 32: by Oana (new)

Oana I really enjoyed the audiobook, you did a wonderful job!

message 33: by Maggie (new)

Maggie I really want to listen to the audio book version after all these reviews!

message 34: by Josh (new)

Josh Solid job with the narration! It was hilarious and did well to capture the biting satire of the author and the snark of the characters.

(And to anyone else reading this, I wholeheartedly recommend the audiobook adaptation.)

message 35: by Carmen (new)

Carmen Serra So happy to hear you are the narrator of the audiobook. You are a phenomenal narrator. Team Scalzi/ Wheaton is my favorite Audible team. Anyway every time I read ( or listen) to a book by Scalzi it became ones my all time favorite. So I am sure this is soon to be my favorite book.

message 36: by Olga (new)

Olga Will, I love your narration. I've listened to most of Scalzi's book and I'm always amazed at your talent to portray different characters. Great job and thank you!

message 37: by Jenan (new)

Jenan Tan Great work on this! Finished the audiobook today and loved both the writing and narration! Will you be doing the voice for the next two books in this series?

message 38: by Jeanne (new)

Jeanne Great review and great narration. 😊 I hope you continue to read Scalzi’s work as you are quite well matched. Thanks!

message 39: by Matt (new)

Matt >but it also has important allegory, metaphor, and commentary on some things that are going on right now
Doesn't he say in the acknowledgements that it isn't related to the recent events? Or maybe he meant the election in particular.

message 40: by Steve (new)

Steve Everywhere I turn, Wil Wheaton. Games, Audiobooks, TV, YouTube...

message 41: by Donna (new)

Donna Next book is out October 16, 2018

message 42: by Gi (new)

Gi Na I must say Will, I'm hoping you don't read all Scalzi's books. You're Americans, I get that, the writing style and language has such American connotations that, using his style and voice, god damn, I'm getting fucking fed up with it, that idea that this is written for ANYONE who isn't part of the American audience is pretty laughable. I was fairly excited about this book release but RIGHT NOW I'm regretting my enthusiasm.

message 43: by Gi (new)

Gi Na In the interest in saving both of us some time i'm asking you to let someone else have a go at reading. Are these reasonable desires?

message 44: by Heather (new)

Heather Georgina wrote: "I must say Will, I'm hoping you don't read all Scalzi's books. You're Americans, I get that, the writing style and language has such American connotations that, using his style and voice, god damn,..."

So....let me get this straight. You're fucking fed up that an American writer sounds American in his writing? And that this American-sounding writer has an American narrate his books? And, furthermore, you feel that somehow this excludes non-American readers?

You know what you sound like? "OMFG, that fucking Agatha Christie, OMG she sounds so FUCKING English ALL THE FUCKING TIME! And that English actor did the audiobook for her AGAIN! The idea that those Marple books were written for ANYONE who isn't part of the English audience is pretty laughable."

So, are those reasonable desires? Short answer: no.

message 45: by Raquel (new)

Raquel Ruppert I loved your reading of the book!

message 46: by Maura (new)

Maura White I’m on a “What has Wil narrated” kick. This is hot on the heals of my family finishing a Eureka-thon. So, drink some lemon tea or whatever keeps your voice working... we are ending 2018 in a Wil-a-thon (and quite frankly it has been the only thing getting me through 2018)

message 47: by Erica (new)

Erica Anderson Great narration! Listened to this one nearly straight through.

message 48: by thomas joe (new)

thomas joe awesome : )

message 49: by thomas joe (new)

thomas joe osam

message 50: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Ignore the haters, Wil. The main reason I even tried Scalzi in the first place was because you were the narrator. It was a fun, engrossing listen and you did an excellent performance. I’m looking forward to beginning the second in the series!
