Carsten He says that we can be innately altruistic, but that doesn't mean we are per say. He covered how young children tend towards sharing instead of simply being selfish all the time. Of course children still are selfish and this is why we need education to further develop our altruistic side. I do agree that the book does ramble on and the second half is less interesting than the first half, but I just wanted to clear up that one point.

Patrycja So funny, I find the second half so diverse and gripping - the state of our world in a nutshell! But I do see that it is not necessarily altruism per se. Great insight both of you, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
