My issue with this book was how the last third or so just lost all narrative momentum and she dropped the neat Winter folklore she had sprinkled throughout the story up to that point.

That's very true. I did lose some interest as I got closer to the end.
I remember thinking it could have had more plot, but the questions of human nature this books brings about are so incredible. It's like, what happens to a society when you remove gender labels? Well, you get more labels. Gah so good!

I agree with Mike on this. As I was nearing the end of the book, I just wanted it to be finished. It kind of lost me with a third to go. I am glad that I read it. But not a big fan.
On the distant world of Winter, ambisexual beings have lived in solitude for as long as anyone can remember.
What the fuck is an ambisexual bei.... You know what, I really don't need to know.
