Aw, that sucks. He is usually so good with short stories. I have his older anthologies though. I do have to say the cover is pretty epic

His short stories are often hit-or-miss for me. But at least in this anthology, so far there has only been one major disappointment, most were average and some were pretty good. I have four stories left, so hopefully I can review them soon. :)
So I see only 5 stories here which I'm in interested in. Can you guess which? :p Great, great review, Fabian. I have to say I loved the title of the collection from the moment I heard about it - that's something if anything. At least there were some pretty great stories you enjoyed and if the ratings and your review say anything, it seems like you won't be taking that break from King anymore :D Decided finally?
I've heard many people like King's introduction to each story. He always has something interesting to say, and I like a small peak into his mind. It will be awhile, but I'm looking forward to reading the book. Super review Fabian.
Intriguing review as usual Fabian!I ordered the book you recommended me soooo I can know what all the fuss is about King's books. Well, I'm trying new genres, THE PERKS OF BEING A GOODREADER.
I know whose profile I need to browse when I am in a mood for Stephen King, Councillor! You're becoming an expert in the genre...Thanks for another informative, juicy review! :)

It's not that difficult to guess which you are referring to. :p (If I were haughty, I would name those I have rated the highest, but I am just able to restrain myself.) Thank youuu and yes, the title (as well as the cover) is pretty interesting! King definitely has a talent for choosing memorable titles.
King break? Where did I say that? I absolutely cannot remember. *coughs loudly* So no, I won't take one. :p

Thank you, Emer! I know, I wouldn't recommend King's horror novels to anyone except for fans of a scary reading experience. But there are some which definitely don't belong in the horror genre. Consider Different Seasons and The Green Mile to be recommended. :p I haven't read Green Mile yet (although I own a Mass Market Paperback copy), but if it is even half as good as the movie, then it will already be perfect! And Shawshank Redemption (the first novella from Different Seasons) is absolutely amazing, even though not as elaborate as the movie. Definitely no horror at all :)
(Do you know the movie "Stand By Me"? Few people seem to know, but it also been adapted from a King novella.)

Definitely; King knows how to inform his readers about what he thought about his own stories. He always tells how he came around to writing this particular story, which is very interesting in some cases. I wonder where he got his inspiration for IT and The Shining from. ;D Thank you, Ron!

Trying new genres is always a good thing! I reeeeeeally hope you like this book; my fingers are crossed. :) Thank you a lot, Ayesha!

Thank you, Dolors, that's high praise indeed. :) To my own surprise, I have grown into a fan of his works over time, and even though there are very good reasons for him having a somewhat bad reputation in the literary world, they definitely do make up for enjoyable reads.

Stand By Me is also part of the Different Seasons anthology. I haven't seen that movie completely yet, but I definitely LOVED the story King wrote. And *sighs* Green Mile and Shawshank belong to my absolute favorites too! Those two movies are sheer perfection, aren't they? There are only few movies which have ever moved me as much as those two.

But I must say, hats off to King for such an inventive title. Very unusual.
Fantastic review, Fabian!"
Exactly, one has to appreciate what is there. :) Thank you, Birch!
That cover...wow!! I really like how you rated each individually. Some do sound a bit interesting and the others a bit "meh" like you said.
Great review!!
