If by funny way of looking at the world you mean the quasi-philosophical bent Infinite Jest takes (I don't mean it as a criticism -- I liked the book a lot), Dostoyevsky also uses well-developed characters that exist partly to support his message. That being said, Russian lit is very morose and Dostoyevsky is known to ramble.
