Book selection has become difficult. For years, I’d loved YA fantasy more than all else. Unfortunately, the older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve begun to recognise the repeating narrative: An ordinary girl with self-doubt meets and incredibly drop-dead gorgeous guy from a different world, he saves her life, falls in love with her and tells her his darkest secrets. It’s turning me away from the genre.
Years ago, I joined Goodreads to keep track of my review, but I soon met wonderful people who loved the same books I did. I joined, so I could freely express myself with the certainty I wouldn’t be judged by those from my real life. So I could fangirl - and be joined by thousands of others. Later, I began to use Goodreads to express the ideas I find spawn from the novels I read. Some inspiring, some outlandish; some are controversial, which I leave open to discussion/debate by you fellow Goodreadsers.
It’d be great to get back into reading.
