My rating system:
If I think a book gets a half-star, I state so in my review, and say why I rounded it up/down.
5 stars- I loved it, it was a thrill ride/immersive/educating, and I hope to read it again someday
4 stars- I loved it, but I didn't connect with it the way I connect with 5-star books (most likely going to re-read later, rating subject to change)
3 stars- I liked it/it was okay, but I'm not sure if I'll get around to re-reading it (plus there were likely some errors/tropes/something else that put me off)
2 stars- Good/decent plot, but the writing style/errors and the over abundance of sex/gore/otherwise unnecessary content drove me to DNF
1 star- If anyone wants s'mores, I'm having a bonfire later :P

A note: nothing goes on my "favorites" shelf unless I've read it at least thrice. Even if I love a story, I don't always read it more than twice; even if I love it so much I cried and read the series/book twice in one week and will hate myself if I ever forget the names of the characters, it still does not get on this shelf unless I've read it at least three times. My tbr list is long (whose isn't? :D), so I have to love a book to death to put it on this shelf.
I'm also known as Marlene Simonette. I may pick another penname for future stories, depending on content. I want to continue calling myself Merenwen on GR, because that's what I started with and I'm comfortable with it. This also isn't an official author profile; I have a hard enough time dealing with reviews and my site, let alone several profiles across several forms of social media....more
