(fyi: I've already read Tartt's The Secret History) -- I'm looking for a book with some mystery, but not a crime/whodunnit. What I most enjoyed about The Goldfinch was the character arc spanning years of growth and change in his life, the introduction of new characters, new locales, and challenges. I want a book I'll think about all day whenever I'm not reading, looking forward to the next time I can finally sit down and lose myself in the narrative.
