Plato's Timaeus has some curious parts about the human body.
Most philosophers have their own body theory but there is one that has brought this question to a fundamental level which is Nietzsche, who
took the human body problem as the starting point to his criticism of western philosophy. Of course he was inspired in this by Spinoza and Presocratic philosophers.
