Thanks for your recs :)
I forgot to add in my request for recs …. that both main characters should be humans and no aliens or immortals or shifters.
But I will check out your other recs.
It seems like it is rather difficult to find post apocalyptic/apocalyptic romance books that do not have non-military heroes (military and ex-military heroes seem to be the “standard” hero in the genre)
And it also seems hard to find main characters that are both 30+ or 40+ and no big age gap or are similar in age.
(The standard seems to be big age gaps between the hero and heroine… and very young/young main characters … especially the heroines that mostly seem to be under 25.)
And I also really wish to find post apocalyptic/apocalyptic romance books where yes of course there is romance and smut …. but the smut/steam is not the focus or the main part of the story/plot… but the survival part is…. Or at least there is a good balance between the smut/steam and romance and the survival part.
Yes, Claire Kent loves that older man age gap in her apocalyptic stories. I wish I had some other recs for you! It’s one of my favorite genres, but difficult to find good stories with that balance you’re looking for. I think many of us are looking for the same!
Yes, it does seem like Claire Kent has a penchant/predilection for mostly/only writing big age gaps and age gaps with her main characters and stories… and she also seems to have a imbalance in the stories when it comes to the smut/steam and romance parts with the action/survival and danger parts.
And it seems like many other authors think and do the same in this genre and with M+F couples/pairings.
This genre also seems to have a very frequent and widespread use of the heroes in this genre being military or ex/former military… and hardly any other backgrounds/professions or just ordinary survivors just trying to survive… which is very formulaic.
The “funny” thing is that it seems to be only or mostly the M+F romances/couples in this genre that are written like that.
The books I have found (and added some) that either have similar aged couples or older than 25 or 30… are mostly M+M and F+F couples and also some poly/FMM…. Even if there is many of these couples and triads/throuples that also have age gaps and a few that have bigger age gaps it is not as prevalent as in M+F couples/pairings.
And Yes, from what I gather (looking/searching in other places etc.) many of us are looking for the same.
Many of us are looking for some variation and diversity to the main characters in this genre.
