Very cool. Do these extreme conditions include inner/psychological states as well or only outer/physical/environmental ones? Someone that's obsessed, full of rage, going mad or whatever, so that the mind itself becomes an inhospitable environment?
Great distinction to make.
My list focuses on specifically outer environments, but many (maybe even most) of them have an inner mental environment that starts to mirror the physical hazards. There's usually some sort of madness involved.
