I'd argue that that could describe virtually any well-written book. What's your definition of "strong character"? (E.g. do you mean someone physically strong/tough, someone with a tough, independent personality or simply someone well-written?) Are you specifically looking for something with a singular central protagonist?
A tough independent personality :) It doesn't have to be a singular protagonist though
