Oh I read this one a while ago, I remember thinking it was cute. What'd you think?

It was cute! I am bad at reading the back of books so I didn't know there was going to be a supernatural element, and I enjoyed how it was used. The thing I am noticing as a trend in the genre though is romance writers justifying their genre. Like, whole plot lines or conversations about why romance is important/joyful/deep/etc. Which I think is weird as it's a popular genre and you're talking to readers who are reading it. Other than that: it was great.
And amusingly, I *did* go in expecting a supernatural element, and found that that was almost . . . irrelevant? Like obviously it was part of the plot, but the main story of the romance was fairly terrestrial? Does that make sense? Not a criticism of the book at all. Just kind of interesting that you could tell a very similar story exploring the same themes (does a writer need to believe in love in order to write convincing romance?) without the supernatural aspects
