Eric Farnsworth At my first job out of high school, I worked under two Japanese supervisors: Isamu (Sam) Nakamura and Mipoka (Pokie) Mine. Sam grew up in southern California and was taken to the concentration camp at Manzanar, where he went to high school, such as it was. Pokie grew up in Colorado, so she wasn't taken to the camps. She married a Japanese American man who joined the army and fought in Europe. They were all nisei. I learned a lot of American history from them that wasn't taught in school in the 60s and 70s.
