I want to try more Castell series because I Loved the Greatcoats, but I've heard this one described as YA which sort of scares me off :)

It put me off initially too, but I think the writing style and author's voice was enough to dispell that worry. It's got the same sort of narrative voice as Greatcoats and the Malevolent Seven, so even if it's YA, it doesn't feel like it to me.
